With the Atlantic hurricane season upon us, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration is forecasting that 2021 will be an above-normal hurricane season. It seems each year climatic hazards — most acutely hurricanes here in the United States — are becoming more intense and more destructive. Yet, our systemic responses to such hazards have evolved little.
The federal government traditionally funds programs pre-disaster to mitigate the effects of hazards and post-disaster to assist communities to recover and rebuild. While funding vehicles may operate under different names and emphasize resilience more today than a decade ago, little attention is paid beyond physical infrastructure improvements or restoration — public or private. This is unfortunate as disaster management is more than government response and recovery. It is inclusive of a broader appreciation of disaster risk among the general public. Through a disaster risk reduction education campaign, such an appreciation can be achieved.

Geez, talk about disingenuous. It may to some SEEM Hurricanes are more intense but in FACT they are not.
According to the NOAA there have been NO increase in the number of Hurricanes in the past 100 yrs
And when the hell hasn’t ther forcast been for a “more active Hurricane season”

Weather is not climate. This reality will never be comprehended by the left, because they choose not to. Say, for instance they actually had “flood” drills, despite of all the vagaries and nonsense spouted, this seems like an actual reference to actual natural disaster. So? If the land will flood, send the kids home from school, and they never come back. That is a “Climate Change” drill.
Thereafter, parents and children can practice not reproducing, not using energy, and normally and forever after eating bugs, while living in cramped, tenement like high rises in crime ridden cities. That’ll do’er!

I recall Nuke drills in Plattsburgh, NY in the early 50’s or in 54-57 in NJ when my old man went back on active duty.

We have had 5 named storms this year. Does anybody remember them? Elsa was supposedly a hurricane for a little while, but the others were barely thunderstorms. Claudette made a direct hit in my area and it was basically no worse than a good afternoon thunderstorm. Would anybody have even noted these a 150 years ago? “Scientists” measure stuff for 50 years on a multi billion year old planet and think they can determine a trend. It’s ridiculous.
Yes we did....1955-1957 I went to school right next to an Armory which blared air raid drills. We marched to the basement and sat on the floor lined up against the walls.
