Reminds me of the movie “Europa, Europa”, where the Soviet teacher tells her students to ask Jesus for candy, and of course...nothing. Then she asks the children to ask Stalin for candy and candy starts coming down from the ceiling.
I should check that one out. This was “American Rhapsody” where they showed a bunch of Hungarian school kids singing about how much they loved their dear leader.
Another good movie, I just saw is “Dear Comrades”.
That movie had a very strong anti-communist message which I, of course, appreciated. Especially having had a prof in grad school who grew up in communist Hungary who told me of his experiences growing up there.
Ok on the list it goes. Of course the Lives of Others is good as is the Death of Stalin.
And a little wind. And if you live in Florida, you get about a week's notice that one's coming.
It's not like a hurricane just shows up one afternoon in an instant, trapping the kids at school where they have to hide under their desks.
Climate disaster drills in school? For Hurricanes? Can the authors be more clueless?
Virtually everybody on the east & Gulf coasts already know the drill. There is plenty of early warning. You either evacuate or hunker down. Schools will be closed at least a day or 3 before landfall. There is nothing to drill in school. Duck & cover? Ha!
Anything the kids need to know about a hurricane strike they will learn as they load up the car to evacuate and as the family boards up the house. That is the best, most long lasting lesson they can learn.
