With Gas Prices High, Biden Tells OPEC: Oil for Thee, but Not for Me
National Review ^ | August 3, 2021 | Jacob Puckett

President Biden’s goal of ending oil production in America doesn’t seem so slick right now. Gasoline prices are close to a dollar per gallon higher than this time last year, with oil prices just shy of the highest in seven years as demand has begun to pick back up after COVID. And with energy being a critical input into nearly every aspect of modern life, higher oil and gasoline prices only add fuel to this year’s inflationary fire.

But rather than let American oil producers step up to the plate, President Biden is calling on . . . the OPEC oil cartel to pump more oil. Evidently, he wants other countries to do the dirty work of drilling the oil for him. And he’s getting his way.

Consider the facts: The oil will be pumped, and the money will flow — but to whom?

Setting up a market in which OPEC can profitably sell more oil effectively creates a market opportunity for OPEC Plus (of which Russia is a part) and Iran. Both countries pose a strategic challenge to America — a challenge that is, in no small part, funded by those countries’ hydrocarbon riches. Oil and gas sales fund approximately half of Russia’s government as of 2019. (Its revenue dipped in 2020 due to COVID-19 but is positioned for a strong comeback in 2021.) The money helps underwrite aggression in Ukraine, in addition to cyberattacks on critical infrastructure in America and its allies, and emboldens reckless behavior by autocrats aligned with Moscow in sensitive parts of the world.

Iran has huge reserves of oil and gas, and as of 2018, exports of those commodities made up a quarter of the government’s budget.

For the last 60 years, Americans have been played for suckers as we get robbed and bled by the rest of the world because our politicians have sold the American people out.

We had Trump elected and he proved to us that this was happening by running the country in America's interests and he began the process of actually turning the country around

Of course, the rest of the world was against him - they have leaders who are acting in their own interests.

Now Biden is in and he is intent on reversing all of the Trump policies that were working to reverse America's decline

For so many years we dreamed about energy independence, or more specifically cutting our reliance on OPEC. Trump took action and we saw gas prices drop (helping families) and the middle eastern leverage of oil diminish.

Our demented criminal fake president naturally started reversing this on day one, Families now feel the burden of higher prices and foreign governments gain far too much influence over us. Liberalism is more than a mental problem, it’s evil.

I have a couple of family members who hated Trump so much they supported and voted for Burden. I was told “at least he cares about us.” Well, one of them was “shocked and appalled” when he canceled the pipeline putting thousands out of work. Now that some store shelves are bare and they can’t get some of the things they want they can’t understand why. When one of them started complaining about the increase in gas prices I told her to stop right there, she got what she voted for and unfortunately so had I.

Biden should have been impeached about one day after getting sworn in. The man has been the complete failure. He is doing the exact opposite of what is the will of the people. He has not upheld his oath of office, nor have most of those in his administration & for that, they should all face prosecution. Some should be facing whatever is considered capital punishment now for treason.
