ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Florida reported 21,683 new cases of COVID-19, the state’s highest one-day total since the start of the pandemic, according to federal health data released Saturday, as its theme park resorts again started asking visitors to wear masks indoors.
The state has become the new national epicenter for the virus, accounting for around a fifth of all new cases in the U.S. as the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus continues to spread.
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has resisted mandatory mask mandates and vaccine requirements, and along with the state Legislature, has limited local officials’ ability to impose restrictions meant to stop the spread of COVID-19. DeSantis on Friday barred school districts from requiring students to wear masks when classes resume next month.
The latest numbers were recorded on Friday and released on Saturday on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website. The figures show how quickly the number of cases is rising in the Sunshine State: only a day earlier, Florida reported 17,093 new daily cases. The previous peak in Florida had been 19,334 cases reported on Jan. 7, before the availability of vaccinations became widespread.
The state reported 409 deaths this week, bringing the total to more than 39,000 since its first in March 2020. The state’s peak happened in mid-August 2020, when 1,266 people died over a seven-day period. Deaths usually follow increases in hospitalizations by a few weeks.

Delta variant testing is done using PCR I believe.
They only test small percentages of Covid positive samples for variant type.
Florida is 26th in terms of per Capita deaths due to the virus.

They should just report the number of cases times 10%. That is how the Democrats count votes.
The emergency approval to use the PCR test has been rescinded, but for some reason, the CDC is still allowing the test to be used until December 31st. It makes no sense at all.

Typical standard operating procedure. When the polio vax was found to have been contaminated with the SV40 virus, they allowed the existing stocks to be used up. I forget how many more people got that vaccine after the discovery.
See my previous link. It's an extraction of RNA via a nanomaterial. Used to be chemical and even less exact. Then they take a ton of junky data and try to pull signal from a lot of noise. It's not impossible since large strands will match up.
But ultimately can be validated if different people with different samples come up with the same result (variant). But it will never be exactly the same.
They are still using it (non CDC PCR test) and testing at 40 cycles which will give almost all false positives. Most are forced to take the test by employers, etc. Results would be almost no positives if they only tested persons with symptoms and used blood tests.

Just watched him on Judge Jeanine; I’m going to believe him over Yahoo. And as usual, this “report” doesn’t say how many of those testing positive have zero symptoms.

If you listen to virologists and others like Dr. Malone they will tell you it was a mistake to try to use universal vaxing as a solution for just the very reason that it would create more problematic variants.
India has a large population with less than 20% who took a vax. That’s more than enough to create an escape valve effort by the ChiCom Virus.
It is not highly speculative. It’s demonstrated and will continue.
How many virologists have you read (not listening since that's not sufficient) that are not like Dr. Malone?
Ok, five days out from my trip to crowded places in Florida without a vaccine or mask. No symptoms yet. Or maybe I have died and FR is still available in the afterlife.
