ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Florida reported 21,683 new cases of COVID-19, the state’s highest one-day total since the start of the pandemic, according to federal health data released Saturday, as its theme park resorts again started asking visitors to wear masks indoors.
The state has become the new national epicenter for the virus, accounting for around a fifth of all new cases in the U.S. as the highly contagious delta variant of the coronavirus continues to spread.
Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has resisted mandatory mask mandates and vaccine requirements, and along with the state Legislature, has limited local officials’ ability to impose restrictions meant to stop the spread of COVID-19. DeSantis on Friday barred school districts from requiring students to wear masks when classes resume next month.
The latest numbers were recorded on Friday and released on Saturday on the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's website. The figures show how quickly the number of cases is rising in the Sunshine State: only a day earlier, Florida reported 17,093 new daily cases. The previous peak in Florida had been 19,334 cases reported on Jan. 7, before the availability of vaccinations became widespread.
The state reported 409 deaths this week, bringing the total to more than 39,000 since its first in March 2020. The state’s peak happened in mid-August 2020, when 1,266 people died over a seven-day period. Deaths usually follow increases in hospitalizations by a few weeks.

Forget the cases, they have always been red herrings. How many people are dying? Not many at all.
The CDC has already admitted that their PCR test was totally in accurate and useless. So therefore the official COVID case count and deaths is useless.

The Rat Media are desperate to take out DeSantis. Primary objective is President Trump but they want both if possible.
Everywhere the vax grows, the cases explode. I’ve watched this statistical aspect over and over.
It’s becoming clear the variants are an outgrowth of all these people taking the vax.
A. How many people were actually sick?
B. How many had to be hospitalized?
C. How many on ventilators?
D. How many died?
There are many different tests which all work off the same basic principles. What you read was that the CDC is withdrawing their Emergency Use Authorization for the test originally created by the CDC for detecting SARS-CoV-2 in an effort to get all testing moved to other test procedures that look for multiple potential causes of symptoms at the same time. So rather than someone getting a COVID-19 test, waiting 2-3 days for results, and losing valuable time if it's actually some other illness causing their symptoms, CDC wants everyone doing testing that will look at multiple causes and determine which it is. So if you actually have the flu, you don't wait a couple days for COVID-19 testing, then go get flu testing a day or two after, then get results from that whenever they come, and you're now 4 or 5 days in potentially before you know what you could have known the day after the first test.
Reporting jurisdictions take weeks to report results back to CDC. The state department of health data is likely the most up to date available. If you look at the footnotes for CDC’s data, they’ll tell you it can take 8 weeks or more for all the reporting jurisdictions to report back to CDC, so they continuously update their numbers as more data arrives.

There is no test for the “delta variant” other than a visual identification with an electron microscope. They are just making the number attributed to the variant up, because there is no way that 21,000 individual cases were positively identified.
Honestly I’m just not buying it. I have not heard even a cough at the grocery store in over a year. Not even a sniffle. And boy do I look for it.
The variants came from unvaxed populations and locations. There are claims of escape mutations but the reason any variants of millions of variants get a name is spread, mainly among unvaccinated.
I would rate the "escape mutation" theory, that vaccines create variants as contrary to most evidence, and highly speculative.
On the other hand, the idea that vaccines are not as effective against variants appears to be well supported by evidence.

Deaths are the same or less. The "cases" will go down again in a couple of weeks. Then they'll report somewhere else.

The emergency approval to use the PCR test has been rescinded, but for some reason, the CDC is still allowing the test to be used until December 31st. It makes no sense at all.
With deaths dropping, they need to keep the fear porn going.
Plus, it's a DeSantis hit piece.
