The rally was in response to the Alberta government’s move to immediately remove isolation requirements for those who come in close contact with someone who has COVID-19, with isolation rules disappearing even for those who test positive for the virus on Aug. 16, despite surging daily case numbers.
Routine testing for those with symptoms of the novel coronavirus will also end by the end of August....
A handful of counter-protesters showed up at the rally, leading to a brief physical confrontation between the two parties....
Chief public health officer Theresa Tam urged people to continue isolating, getting tested for COVID-19 and informing their close contacts, even if it is no longer mandated....
Hospitalizations remained stable. There are now 90 Albertans in hospital with COVID-19, 19 of whom are in intensive-care units.
Three new deaths from the virus were reported, bringing the pandemic’s toll in Alberta to 2,328....

Predictably, the left went nuts, screaming about impending disasters and people dying in mass numbers, etc. Won't happen, of course, but by shutting down the testing, the leftists will be denied what is now their primary source of fear statistics - the number of CASES.
Now they'll be left reporting only deaths and hospitalizations - which are stable. No wonder the Left is going crazy over this, the stops the con game cold!
Ever watch Viva Frei ?
SARS is real. The opportunism is also real.
What is a good non biased news source for Albertans?
“ Background - The Province of Alberta announced Thursday they would no longer focus on “cases” as of Aug. 16, just deaths and hospitalizations - the FIRST major heath jurisdiction in North America to do so. All testing centers are also to be shut down that day.…

Sanity returns to another part of North America. Props to Alberta’s leadership. I am so sick of the endless, and largely meaningless IMHO, talk of “cases”. That talk is meant only to extend controls on the population.
I’m in New Brunswick....

Yesterday I did a delivery to PEI.
I hadn’t been there in a few months.
The change was drastic. It looked like the circus had come to town.
Large circus like tents set up with 20 lanes of traffic being directed through them.
When I finally got to the front of my line I was met by a pretty young woman who asked me a bunch of questions.
I showed her my essential worker paperwork and license, and fielded the usual enquires.
She asked if I had any symptoms.
I said no but my companion, Emmy the Dog, had complained that her throat was feeling a little ‘ruff’.
That elicted the usual smile from the questioners.
She asked me if I had been vaccinated and I answered ‘no’ without hesitation. That was noted, to what effect I wonder?
The whole response at the border looked like over-kill but as me fadder used to say, best just to grin and bear it.
For a narrative of why this is not a vaccine, the gain of function crowd’s stated objective, and medical facts about masks and social distancing, described as informative and “likely the most unvarnished truth that gets posted to these threads,” see reply 9 on this FR post.
“The whole response at the border looked like over-kill but as me fadder used to say, best just to grin and bear it.”
To what extent? When do you finally say enough is enough? Suppose you came home and found the gov parked at each end of your street and stopping everyone to ask you a few questions about whatever is the crisis dejour?
Grin and bear it indeed....until it ain’t funny anymore and by then it may be too late.
What do you suggest?
“What do you suggest?”
I suppose your actions would depend on your age and physical condition. But irrespective of those considerations would be a clear undestanding in your own mind of when a situation becomes too grave to “grin and bear it” This is an individual choice and will be different for each of us.
When you are at the point when you personally are fed up with the situation (such as this continually flip flopping re China Virus) you first refuse to comply. I stopped wearing a mask back in Feb of this year even in stores requiring them. Before I did so I found a manager and informed him of my intentions and asked if I would be asked to leave. His response was “No”. In another case just 2 weeks ago I walked into a local Eyeglass/eye exam establishment because I was thinking of new glasses. The moment I walked in I was approached and said I was required to wer a mask in the store. Now this was after all mask mandates were lifted in the State (SC) and it was up to the individual store to make their own determination. When I mentioned this the employee said it was mandated by the CDC. I said that was not true, turned and walked out. They lost my business and probably more since I mentioned this to others in my community.
It isn’t much but it is resistance and I believe it is up to every individual to resist in any way they can if we are to stop this madness.
‘Yesterday I did a delivery to PEI.”
For those of you who don’t speak Canadian, that’s “Prince Edward Island”, which is to the extreme east of Canada (on the Atlantic Ocean side).
I think Newfoundland is a little further to the east. :)
Are you out there tearing up the 401?
“Are you out there tearing up the 401?”
The only 401 I am aware of is a retirement plan. Perhaps you might explain your comment?
