Focusing on the race of slave owners, for whatever political point someone is trying to make is unintentionally obfuscating the issue. “Whites” are not to blame for slavery anymore than the blacks who did all the capturing and selling of their fellow blacks. Rather people long dead of both racist committed that grievous sin.
Slavery was an abomination. One our society paid for during the civil war.
Its worse than that, slavery is the most common condition of man throughout all cultures and history. It was the reason for the Magna Carta and our Constitution. The communist usurpers are trying to return all men to our most common condition.
I don't see how discussions about Jews or their "whiteness" is relevant. Discussions about discrimination against Jews must recognize that white Catholics suffered discrimination. In the South, Jews and white Catholics were not subject to Jim Crow. Cultural, if not legal, bias was rampant, however. Both groups were considered un-Christian by fundamentalist Protestants and non-Nordic (except for German Catholics). The 1920s Klan combined both Protestant prejudices and Nordic superiority theory to persecute blacks, Catholics, and Jews.
Slavery provided an incentive to keep your slaves alive and healthy. Indentured servitude meant it was ok to work him to death.
And if there was neither type of servitude, there would be no reason to go to the expense of transportation. Blacks would have stayed in Africa.
“Jews, as historical records prove, are not of European origin and most haven no lineage in Europe,” -— That is wrong in the case of Ashkenazi Jews, who have both Mid-Eastern and European heritage. This is based on DNA studies on people whose ancestors came to Europe approximately 1000-2000 years ago.
“Focusing on the race of slave owners...”
They were/are all members of the human race. Every one of them.
We’re a species. :-)
Scientifically speaking, there’s no such thing as race.
Jewish or hebrew?
According to modern-day thought Jewish is a religion not a bloodline. Although 50-75 years ago it was considered a bloodline.
I would think now Hebrew would be considered the bloodline with Jewish being the religionists within that bloodline.
However, anyone can be Jewish if they choose that religion as there form of worship.
I really don’t know which is correct, and I would have thought the Genome Project would have fleshed that out a little bit more.
My first ancestor in America was an indentured servant for a black man.
The tribes of North and South America had many slaves. Many practiced cannibalism and human sacrifice.
“Scientifically speaking, there’s no such thing as race.”
Why is Homo Sapien sapien divided up into Mongoloid, Negroid, Caucasian? Or is that outmoded science these days?
"descent" - decent means something else entirely.
The first slave owner in what is now Virginia was certainly a Native American who kept slaves long before any European set foot on this continent.
Truth is stranger than fiction but unfortunately too many of our fellow citizens prefer fiction.
The first slave owners in the Virginia area were Indians who had been enslaving each other for thousands of years.
Slavery is still allowed in 150 countries around the world, but the only one that counts is America 200 yrs ago.
I absolutely hate the 1619 project. If I had turned a paper in this badly written and documented in college I would have gotten an F. This individual gets a Pulitzer Prize. Slave sold on the East African Coast were often captives of war. If they had not not been sold as slaves, at the next big tribal feast they would have been tortured and killed for entertainment.
