More than 10,000 troops from China and Russia will stage a drill together in a further tightening of their defence partnership. Chinese defence ministry spokesman Wu Qian said on Thursday that the exercise in China’s Ningxia Hui autonomous region would take place in early August. The move comes as both countries face a deteriorating relationship with the US. “The purpose of this exercise is to consolidate and develop a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation between China and Russia,” Wu said during a regular press briefing in Beijing.

There it is, the partnership to destabilize USA geopolitical dominance. Don’t think they have deep ties, but they absolutely do see a weak USA as an opportunity.
That was my first thought, though I believe Putin is smarter than stalin. Xi is no dummy, either.

Maybe China gets Taiwan and Russia gets the rest of the Ukraine or the parts it wants. Russia/China then present a united front if nato or whoever tries to intervene.
September 2019: In August 2018, in Ningxia’s Tongxin county, authorities attempted to demolish the Weizhou Grand Mosque, claiming it lacked building permits. Hundreds of residents staged a sit-in, sharing videos of their protest through Chinese social media platforms WeChat and Kuaishou, a livestreaming app, faster than censors could take them down.
Taken aback, officials called off the demolition. But the victory was short-lived. In November, local government began visiting every household in Weizhou, pressuring residents to sign letters stating acquiescence to “renovate” the mosque by removing its main dome and domed minarets. In some cases, Weizhou officials threatened to fire state employees if they did not sign the letter, according to multiple residents.
This month, an NPR reporter drove through Weizhou, which is now guarded by checkpoints on the only road leading in and out of town. The mosque is closed, its main dome and minarets replaced with tiled Buddhist-style pagodas, and its entrances blocked by scaffolding.
I’m thinking about that being side payments, they probably want way more.

Actually they both get ready to fend off “American/NATO aggression”. But they indeed consider Taiwan and Ukraine as their lost territories. So I may conclude that West kinda cements their alliance.
If not West they would not ally at all. And the fact that China is a number 1 world economy motivates Russia. It is just interests here and no more.
If Russia may see that her interests are more satisficed with West then she will ally with West which she proposed many time. West was deaf.
So again it is all acts of West created this situation. Russia told West many time that she won’t agree to the role of a colony of West but West offered her exactly that.
China has its eye on Siberia...They are coming for you next. Russia China are not allies, China is using Russia and then will take back their Siberia in time.

China is exactly ally by interests. And she is number 1 economy in the world. Same time Chine doesn’t attack Russia with sanctions. So Russia obviously allies with China but not with US. Who would do differently?

Yes. China is allied with Russia, until they are not. They have Siberian aims and say so.
