The company that made a rifle used in one of the worst school shootings in the US has offered $33m (£24m) to several victims' families. The proposed settlement for the 2012 Sandy Hook massacre from Remington, America's oldest gun-maker, came as part of a bankruptcy hearing for the company.

It also comes in response to a lawsuit brought by families of nine of the 26 victims.

Each family would receive some $3.66m.

As police closed in on the school, he killed himself.

A fine piece of journalism.

No wonder they went bankrupt and dissolved, with people this stupid running the place.

Not to mention the bad precedent it sets, ESPECIALLY when biden (harris) [0bama] is in the process of letting arms manufacturers to be sued by anyone who gets shot at.

All because some spoiled dweeb who should have been institutionalized had mommy issues. Close down the mental asylums, and this is what you get.

Why not sue the fidiot dead mom’s estate and the shrinks and doctors of the pathetic little sh*t asperger-tard? If the POS slammed a car into a yard full of children, would the manufacturer of the vehicle be sued?

Is Remington setting a precedent that could/will help the left initiate lawsuits on manufacturers of guns used in crime? I think this is a bad move on their part.

They’re in bankruptcy. Whatever the settlement is, they likely won’t have to pay it once their debt is disolved.

This doesn’t say, but I seem to recall that. It identifies the AR variant as a Bushmaster. I think this was after Cerebus had acquired both Bushmaster and Remington.

They’re in bankruptcy.

Yes, so why offer to settle a case they are not responsible for?

I think they had to present a settlement proposal to the judge.
