Supposed “Republican” Oklahoma Rep. Markwayne Mullin appeared on C-SPAN to commend the Capitol police officer who shot and killed unarmed Air Force veteran Ashli Babbitt in the Capitol on January 6.
“After it happened, he came over,” Mullin told C-SPAN. “He was physically and emotionally distraught. I actually gave him a hug and I said, ‘sir, you did what you had to do.'”
Mullin went on to suggest that Babbitt, who he refused to name, was going to steal the officer’s gun and use it against him.
C-Span is currently running a series on the Capitol protest, with interviews from 14 members of Congress.
In one of the first interviews, Rep. Mullin casually explains how he hugged the Capitol Police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt and told him that he “did what he had to.”

There is video aplenty of the guy killing Babbitt. He was cowering down low, in a perpendicular position to her line of approach, about 10’ across a wide hallway. She was never in a position where she could have taken his gun. Best case scenario is that the jerk was poorly trained and panicked. He certainly knew nothing about crowd control.

If Democrap Oklahoma Rep. Markwayne Mullin ever gets injured or killed, I’ll be sure to hug his assailant.
He has quite a conservative record. It’s certainly possible to disagree with him about this, but the RINO label isn’t entirely fair.
This is DISGUSTING! For this RINO congressman to say (watch the CSPAN tape) that he told the capitol police officer who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt that he “had” to do it, is simply not true based on the evidence. She was NO IMMINENT THREAT when he shot her.
I called his DC office (202) 225-2701 to register my disgust, and to say that she was NOT an imminent threat, that this man insulted Ashli Babbitt’s family and her memory.
If you feel the same as me, then I suggest you let his office know. I was cordial with the man who answered, and he was respectful, so don’t take it out on whomever answers.
Time will tell. He lost any and all credibility to any Conservative label you or anyone else wants to give him. And his voting habits aren’t going to save him.
That being said, making an absolutely ridiculous statement that “she was going for his gun”, when she wasn’t even on the same side of the door as the shooter was and saying that this was a justified shooting, automatically shreds any Conservative credentials he may have had.
But, then again, you might be someone that knows him from church on Sundays and thinks the world of the POS.
I don’t know the make up of his District.
I’d be curious how much Trump won his District.
It could be a RINO District.
However, if it is a Conservative District, he is in trouble.
