I think I heard the Guardian is a bridge in Cleveland. Know about that??
I can remember my brother had a pennant from when the Indians won the series. That was back in the early 40’s. Everyone was so proud of them.
1948. They’re currently the team with the longest World Championship drought.
“The rain Indain stays on the Cleveland plains!”
I have a tribal membership card. The name Versions bothered me. But, neither Indians or Braves do.
Being part Indian I feel the same way They are honoring the great warriors who lived in America before it was America.
Octagonal snowflakes? There’s no such thing! Just like the Cleveland Indians now.
[[The owners will now call the team the Cleveland Guardians, ]]
They never even bothered to see if guardians everywhere were a-ok with the team culturally appropriating their title
not to mention that there is already a roller derby team called the Cleveland Guardians.
http://www.clevelandguardians.com/
I’d have renamed the team:
The Cleveland Scalpers.
Pays tribute to the old culture of native Americans and the new culture of making a quick buck (Oops, can I say that???) on game day
i hope they sue for name infringement
I’m Cherokee. But I’m NOT “on the role”, therefore NOT a member of the tribe. Because of the “Dawes Act”. Anyway... This reminds me of a trick my sister pulled many years ago... She was working at some place, I think it was called “venture”. She stole a record, YEAH back in the days when the had records(before 8-track, cassette, CD, DVD...) from the store she worked for, came home and told me that she did it for me. It was a lie of course, I never gave a crap about that record. She wanted the record, stole it and made up an excuse for doing so. This recent crap about sports names are the same damned thing! These people doing these things don’t give a flying crap about us, it’s JUST an excuse to do what they want!
Cleveland Guardians, the one and only thing they are guarding is their paycheck.
Naming something after something or somebody usually expresses reverence.
Pretty much anybody would love to have a team named after them!
Are New England Patriots making derogatory statement about Patriots? Are lions, tigers. cardinals or oilers supposed to be upset?
I would think, the purging of “native” symbols from US sports is really derogatory to them!
By the way the main Navaho high school in AZ has a team named, guess what?, Redskins!
Agarn, is that you? :)
The Trail of Tears is still being trod.
Just wait 'til The Crossroads of America gets REALLY woke.
We have a state, and capitol and a baseball team: all about INDIANS!!
Our extremely woke Indianpolis Star 'newspaper' cannot even bring itself to PRINT the name of the ball team!
Hail to the Football Team!
Hail victory!
Players on the field
Fight to be PC!
Unfortunately, they’ll probably get paid off.
