An American Airlines passenger was hauled off a plane by police in New Orleans after she refused to wear a mask, authorities said.
The incident occurred on a flight that was set to depart from Louis Armstrong International Airport around 9:30 a.m. Friday to Dallas, The New Orleans Advocate reported.
“I’ve never seen anything quite like it before,” another passenger, retired Tulane University history professor Patrick Maney, told the paper.
Maney said two armed police officers came on the plane and ordered the woman to leave after she wouldn’t put on a mask, per federal law for commercial flights.
“She refused, and they then told her to get up. She was screaming and resisting as they hauled her up and put some kind of restraints on her hands behind her back,” Maney said.

Not technically over the mask:
“Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Capt. Jason Rivarde said that a woman was arrested after refusing multiple requests to get off the plane.” It also says she was screaming and resisting.
Arrested for violating federal law.
Buying a plane ticket knowing you have to wear a mask but refusing to do so is demented.
She lied.
Lock her up.
If the Democrat delegation from Texas that infected the White House can fly without masks, why not everyone else?
While I think the rule requiring masks on public transportation are nonsense it is necessary if you want to travel this way to follow the rules.
The alternative is to find another way to travel but causing inconvenience to the other passengers is not right. This woman must have known the requirements to wear a mask so perhaps this is her way to protest.
More should do this.
How dare her to refuse the mask. She should get the death penalty.
No, she was kicked off the airplane for refusing to wear a mask. She was arrested for disturbing the peace, remaining in a place after being forbidden, resisting arrest and simple assault.
Exactly!!
Apparently COVID doesn’t attack or spread on chartered private flights.
They were on a charter airplane and not a commercial flight.
No, she just gets to walk to her destination instead of flying.
No name, no video, no details................................
Don’t lock her up, just revoke her right to be on that flight.
Don’t make a mountain out of a molehill.
No court appearance
No jail time
No civil suit
No class action suit
No chanting mobs on either side of the question
Just remove her from the plane.
BTW, IF the vaccines work, then not wearing a mask only endangers that person. Nearby people are NOT endangered. Ipso facto, Mask Mandates are idiotic.
Refusing to sacrifice your firstborn to the airline gods will likely result in you being charged with “disturbing the peace, remaining in a place after being forbidden, resisting arrest and simple assault.”
I don’t see this kind of stunt as being that different from the mobs that shut down interstates to make their point. Making life miserable for others doesn’t win friends or influence others.
>>BTW, IF the vaccines work, then not wearing a mask only endangers that person.
Yea, except the other people who have not yet been vaccinated - including children , or cannot get vaccinated due to medical reasons.
Lock up the imbecile and ban her for 5 years from all airlines - she deserves it.
So you agree with the face napkin even though it does nothing to stop viruses.
About the only time I am compelled to wear those stupid masks these days is on the Metro North train to Manhattan. So I keep one shoved in my pocket and only put it on as I enter the train. Soon as I get to my stop, I rip the thing right off and stuff it into my pocket. Many other fellow commuters are now doing the same.
It's total nonsense but if I decided not to put one on, I'd only create a hassle for the train conductors and my fellow passengers. MTA guidelines in this situation call for the conductors to call the police and hold up the train at the next station (even if unscheduled) until the police can come arrest me.
Not only do I inconvenience everybody on the train I'm on but trains behind me get delayed as well. So I guess my alternative is to drive to Manhattan - which I'm not ready to do just yet.
As for the mask I keep in my pocket, I don't think I've washed it in all the time I've had it. I'm waiting for the day when I can just throw it in the trash and be done with it forever. It does absolutely no good whatsoever. It's just a stupid virtue signal.
Speaking of flying, I did drive to Minnesota and back recently (from Connecticut) as I simply did not want to deal with the hassle of mandatory mask wearing on the plane or at the airports.
