PODGORICA, Montenegro (AP) — Montenegro has registered the first same-sex partnership in the staunchly conservative country that is striving to join the European Union, authorities said Sunday.
The announcement is seen as a major step forward for the LGBT community in Montenegro, which has suffered harassment and isolation in the past.
The strongly patriarchal nation last year passed a law allowing same-sex partnerships as part of reforms needed to move closer to EU membership. Government Minister Tamara Srzentic says she is proud that the law has been used.
“Today is an important day for the LGBTQ community in Montenegro,” Srzentic said on Twitter. “I wish the (female) partners a lot of love and happiness in their life together.”

A lot of misleading charged language in the article, but I gather this is giving in the an EU demand as a requirement of membership.
Where is Mounthenegro?
Formerly part of Yugoslavia.
It’s located between Bosnia to the north, Serbia to the east, with Albania and Kosovo to the south.
Montenegro is in Eastern Europe on the Adriatic. A beautiful country that seemed to be on the other side of the Communism that was foisted on it when the Bolsheviks took over Russia in 1917-1918 time frame. This is a shame and it will destroy them as surely as it has destroyed us.
It’s a beautiful are in the former Yugoslavia. My husband’s ancestors were from there. We owned land in the early 2000’s, sold and did very well.
They need to just stay the heck out of the EU.
Why would they want EU membership at this point?
Montenegro has about 620,000 citizens.
I wonder how many of them are L or B or G or T or ?
