A California couple whose gender reveal party set off a wildfire last year has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after a firefighter was killed trying to put the fire out.
San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson announced Tuesday that the couple pleaded not guilty the day before.

Nowadays though, anything goes. The gender you reveal doesn't even have to match the gender you claim you are.

I find it strange that the article does not mention their names, it just refers to the as “the couple”.

If I’m on the jury it is not guilty on the Involuntary Manslaughter. A reasonable person would not expect that a propulsive smoke device would cause a person to die. The firefighter had much more control over his life than the couple did.
Should be an interesting case.
Did they know about the burning ban?
Did the smoke ‘bomb’ have a warning label about fire?
Did they, after the event, admit to negligence?
Does this differ from a campfire used for cooking? Because this wasn’t an accident caused by camping.
If they ‘souped up’ the smoke bomb in some way, they’re sunk.
