Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges involving the El Dorado Fire
The fire killed firefighter Charles Morton, 39, when the blaze overran a remote area where firefighters were cutting fire breaks
The Jimenez family was charged with one felony count of involuntary manslaughter, along with seven other felony counts on fire related charges
They were also charged with 22 various misdemeanor counts related to the fire
Prosecutors had requested that bail be set in the amount of $50,000 each
Refugio and Angela were released on the promise to return to court pending a September 15 court date

A California couple whose gender reveal party sparked a wildfire that killed a firefighter and burned more than 22,000 acres has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.
Refugio Manuel Jimenez Jr. and Angela Renee Jimenez pleaded not guilty on Monday to charges involving the El Dorado Fire which killed firefighter Charles Morton, 39, San Bernardino County District Attorney Jason Anderson said at a news conference.
The El Dorado Fire erupted on September 5 when the couple and their young children staged a baby gender reveal at El Dorado Ranch Park in Yucaipa, at the foot of the San Bernardino Mountains.
A smoke-generating pyrotechnic device was set off in a field and quickly ignited dry grass on a scorching day. The couple frantically tried to use bottled water to douse the flames and called 911, authorities said.
Strong winds stoked the fire as it ran through wilderness on national forest land, about 75 miles east of Los Angeles.
The blaze blackened nearly 36 square miles of land in San Bernardino and Riverside counties before it was finally extinguished on November 16.

I call BS on this. Yes, the expectant parents are so dumb they should cease having children, but to go crazy charging them is overkill.
We have a west coast full of vagrants who start fires, throw rocks at cars from highway overpasses, $hit on the sidewalks, inject drugs in public and are cause for massive public taxpayer relief and the powers that be do nothing other than elevate the feral human to protected status.
This is a travesty.

The “reveal party” is a game of status one-upmanship. The Joneses spent this much on a reveal party so the Williamses spent even more and the Smiths spent still more and the Hamiltons spent even more than that. Until you get to the Jimenezes and they feel compelled to put on this big production just to reveal boy or girl (as the public schools then convince the little boys to be little girls, so why the big deal?).
This one accidentally started a fire that turned into a huge fire that killed one firefighter and damaged acres of forest as well as other property. OOPS!

Since he will be tried before a jury in the land of fruits&nuts, climate change seems like a great defense.
So we need to accept the higher charge to get it thrown out in court.

Usually, when a Gender Reveal party becomes an over the top production, its the Baby’s father making that happen.
This may be replacing the more common game of neighborhood competition that happens with outside displays of Christmas lights and decorations.
