The Chinese army warned that a stricken dam in the centre of the country "could collapse at any time" after being severely damaged in torrential storms that killed at least 12 people and brought the region to a standstill.
Weather authorities have issued the highest warning level for central Henan province as downpours caused widespread disruption and the evacuation of residents of flooded streets.
On Tuesday evening the regional unit of the People's Liberation Army warned that the relentless downpour had caused a 20m breach in the Yihetan dam in Luoyang - a city of around seven million people - with the risk that it "may collapse at any time."

The death toll from this must be staggering.
No way I believe the official numbers.
I don’t know yet. Watching for info elsewhere, but nobody has said anything. There is another dam said threatened, but that one is mostly hydropower - not flood control and hydro and ship traffic like 3 Gorges Dam is.
But this does not fit the pro-CAGW global warming = drought everywhere message they need promoted right now. (Just like the strong rains out east and south don’t fit that narrative either. )
The 3 Gorges Dam is so massive and the reservoir so huge it has changed local rain patterns.........................
“On Jul 20, a 20m breach occurred at the Yihetan dam .... the riverbank was severely damaged and the dam may collapse at any time,” it said in the statement.
20 METERS!.........................
And when it lets go, the erosion will happen so fast with that amount of water it will be staggering.
There will be no trace of that breach left.
“At least 25 dead in Chinese province’s heaviest rains in 1,000 years”
Heaviest rains in 1,000 years?
Do we think they really know this?
20 Meters
How many football fields is that?
2 downs worth...........

Amen!
Such flooding causes an aftermath of disease and starvation to follow. The chicom rulers have little regard for the mass of suffering to follow this flooding. They are focused upon retaining their control / power.
It’s propaganda.
It’s not even the heaviest rain in 50 years.
1975 saw worse rain in that region, and it led to the greatest man-made disasters in human history. Over 200K people drowned to death.
That’s the problem with a totalitarian regime, there are no consequences for failure and so the next time there is heavy rain, the same thing will happen again, and the government will again predictably blame it on nature.
Thanks—that doesn’t surprise me.
Sounds pretty typical for leftists/communists.
