BEIJING, July 20 (Reuters) - China unveiled a maglev train capable of a top speed of 600 kph on Tuesday, state media said.

The maximum speed would make the train, self-developed by China and manufactured in the coastal city of Qingdao, the fastest ground vehicle globally.

Using electro-magnetic force, the maglev train "levitates" above the track with no contact between body and rail.

Is that why it’s called a bullet train?

It looks very cool. I am jealous. I live in CA, home of the incomplete, over budget, train to nowhere.

If I put a penny on the track before the train comes through, will the train flatten the penny into a souvenir or derail?

Hah,, auto correct! Well he alread HAS an organism now— it’s called a brain worm which has taken a good part of what was left of his temporal lobe after his surgery, leaving half of a really stupid brain in a really stupid and now demented pudding finger sucker.

But yeah— amtrak-— at any speed is NOT the ticket for a country of this size, and which removes personal movement freedoms forcing all but the elite into public transport. So, uh algore can redesign the urban and the suburban areas to include Section 8 urban street apes people moved to suburbs to remove the threat to their families.

As a proponent of coast to coast Amtrak, I bet our current occupant of the white house will have an organism as he sends his lionel model train set spinning around the office while thinking of this.

LOL, what about our own Willie Green?

Hasn’t anyone noticed the tiremarks on the concrete? How can a maglev have tiremarks

BS....

Maglev trains have landing wheels in case the power is suddenly cut, and to maneuver slowly at terminals and yards.

Speed 600 Kilometer per hour = 372.823 Miles per hour
Formula for an approximate result, divide the speed value by 1.609

now subtract appropriate times for each station stop; at least in the US, the end result would be as fast or slower than driving.

Ground, fixed path transportation is no more than modified old technology. Air cars will supplant the need for “high speed” rail; and they will also massively reduce the need for major public “infrastructure” investment. Some highways will be replaced by “fly over parkways” serving the public on the ground and in the air.

Mostly purchased and stolen from the Japanese. Japan’s Transfer of Bullet Train Technology A Mistake. China, Of Course, Has Copied It

No, the JP Bullet Trains run on regular rails.

This is the German Transrapid, which Germany was too cheap to deploy in-country.
