Watchdogs Assail Biden's Ambassador to Germany Pick

President Biden’s choice of University of Pennsylvania President Amy Gutmann to be U.S. ambassador to Germany is spurring new controversy – and not just over quid pro quo concerns about her decision to pay Biden $911,000 in salary for an ambiguous professorial role at the prestigious college.

Gutmann is the second-highest-paid Ivy League president, receiving roughly $3.9 million in total compensation in 2020, according to the university’s latest publicly available 990 tax forms. Only Columbia University’s Lee Bollinger makes more — reportedly $4.6 million in 2018 — while all other Ivy League presidents earn less than $2 million annually, according to the latest figures available.

Ethics watchdogs have assailed the nomination as taking the pay-to-play practice of choosing ambassadors to new levels.

New presidents usually reward at least a handful of big campaign donors and bundlers with such plum posts even if they lack the foreign-policy credentials to become the chief U.S. diplomat in those countries. In some particularly embarrassing cases, the ambassadorial picks haven’t known even the basics about the nations in which they were chosen to serve.

Uh, isn't that a pay cut? Then again, the contacts she'll be able to make are certainly worth way more than that. Wonder how much of a stake she'll somehow acquire in the pipeline deal from the rooskies. (P.S. Bring a bucket and a mop amy.)

Based on the lack of qualifications, these gov’t positions are unnecessary. Ambassador is a ceremonial post.

But billions of our tax dollars go to support these leaches.

GOP lawmakers: Why did Chinese donations to University of Pennsylvania triple to $72M after Biden Center formed?
NOQ Report ^ | 01/28/2021 | Scott Boyd
Posted on 1/28/2021, 11:33:26 PM by SeekAndFind

A week and a day into a Biden administration and there is already more evidence of Chinese influence being revealed than the entire body of “evidence” presented in the Russia probe against President Trump. The latest very questionable circumstance happened in 2017 when the University of Pennsylvania formed the Penn Biden Center.

In the 37 months prior to the center’s formation, the university received $21,187,333 from China. In the 39 months after the formation of the Penn Biden Center, donations from China more than tripled to $71,274,675. Republican Representatives James Comer, Jim Jordan, and Virginia Foxx sent a follow-up letter to the university yesterday after not receiving a reply to their initial inquiry.

🚨JUST NOW🚨

Top Republicans @RepJamesComer, @Jim_Jordan, and @virginiafoxx are expressing concerns over UPenn’s close relationship with the Biden family and recent revelations that the university has received millions of dollars from China. The lawmakers are seeking answers👇 pic.twitter.com/bMpUk9VSFa

— Oversight Committee Republicans (@GOPoversight) January 28, 2021

At the heart of this mess is Hunter Biden, the son of the President, who’s alleged dealings with the Chinese Communist Party have drawn a federal investigation. Moreover, there are reasons to believe based on documents found on Hunter Biden’s laptop as well as eyewitness testimony that his father is vulnerable to coercion from Beijing.

The Republican members of Congress laid out the reason for their requests in a letter sent to the president of the university:

On August 3, 2020, we wrote to you regarding unreported and anonymous foreign donations to the University of Pennsylvania from foreign adversaries such as Russia, China, Qatar, and Iran. We have yet to receive a response. In light of your university’s close relationship with the Biden family and recent revelations regarding their potentially illicit ties to foreign adversaries including China, we request an immediate response to this inquiry.

On December 9, 2020, both Hunter Biden and the Biden-Harris Transition Team admitted that Hunter Biden was under federal investigation for his “tax affairs.” Reporting indicates the criminal investigation’s primary focus is whether Hunter Biden violated tax and money laundering laws in his foreign business dealings, particularly in China. Notwithstanding significant counterintelligence concerns, these facts raise serious questions regarding conflicts of interest and the integrity of the Biden family’s ties to China. Understanding whether the University of Pennsylvania’s Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement (Biden Center) received funds from China or other adversarial nations at the behest of the Biden family or future Biden Administration officials will shed light on the depth and breadth of the potential improper influence these nations enjoy over the Biden family.

On February 1, 2017, University of Pennsylvania announced the formation of the Biden Center. In the 37 months of available reporting prior to the announcement of the Biden Center, the University received about $21,187,333 from China. In contrast, in the 39 months of available reporting since the announcement of the Biden Center, the University received $72,274,675 from China—an increase of $51,087,342 in a similar time frame.

For some time, we have been concerned about the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) efforts to use its strategic investments to turn American college campuses into indoctrination platforms for American students. In fact, Liu Yunshan, the former Head of Central Propaganda Department of China, pointed to the proliferation of CCP infiltration of U.S. education as part of a plan to “coordinate the efforts of overseas and domestic propaganda, [and] further create a favorable international environment for [China].” At the very least, increased CCP influence in the U.S. allows a window into U.S. culture, infrastructure, and planning—providing a gathering ground for Chinese intelligence agencies.

The CCP’s actions calls into question whether U.S. institutes of higher education receiving federal taxpayer dollars should be allowed to accept funds from China, the CCP, or other affiliated organizations.

It’s bad enough that the current President of the United States is likely compromised by the Chinese Communist Party. It’s worse that nearly everything he has touched, including the Penn Biden Center, may be compromised as well.

Biden Center Under Investigation for Illegal Donations From China
DB Daily Update ^ | David Blackmon
FR Posted on 5/25/2020, 9:19:56 AM by EyesOfTX

If the label says “Biden,” it was definitely influenced by China. – John Solomon at JustTheNews.com is reporting that The National Legal and Policy Center has asked the U.S. Department of Education to investigate its findings that the University of Pennsylvania (Penn) has over the past several years accepted more than $22 million in anonymous China-originated donations to its Biden Center and failed to properly disclose the contributions.

From Solomon’s report:

The complaint, filed by the National Legal and Policy Center, says that over the past three years, the university has accepted around $22 million in anonymous funding from Chinese sources. That’s out of a total of more than $70 million from Chinese donors during that time, the NLPC said.
Those significant funds, including the anonymous amounts, rolled in after the Biden Center was announced in early 2017 and launched in February 2018. The center is located in downtown Washington, D.C.

Federal records show that the University of Pennsylvania has received significant donations from China since the opening of the center. One 2018 donation alone totals $14.5 million; it is listed as “anonymous” in federal records.
The NLPC alleges the university may have violated federal law in accepting those anonymous monetary donations. The Higher Education Act mandates schools report the national origins of any donations above $250,000 although not necessarily the individual names of donors themselves.
[End]

This serves as just one more reminder that Biden, his son and his brother have long been in the pockets of Chinese interests. The stark reality facing our country today is that, should Biden manage to win the election in November, all of the gains President Donald Trump has made through the sheer force of his will in terms of U.S./China relations and trade policy will be immediately reversed the day after Biden assumes office.

If you like the fact that virtually all U.S. antibiotics and PPE are sourced through China at some point along their supply chains and want it to stay that way, vote for Biden. Because that would be a fait accompli should he win. There are trillions of dollars at stake, and Creepy Uncle Quid Pro China Joe wants to ensure his family continues to get its fair share.

Across Biden Charitable Organizations, A Refusal to Disclose Funding
Washington Free Beacon ^ | 5/21/20 | Alana Goodman
FR Posted on 5/21/2020, 6:12:22 PM by Artemis Webb

When Joe Biden announced he was opening a foreign policy center at the University of Pennsylvania, the goals for the project were ambitious.

At its founding in 2018, Biden described the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement as “a place where policymakers here and abroad will know they can be in touch with some of the best minds.”

The center is one of several organizations Biden founded since leaving the White House in 2017, including the domestic policy-focused Biden Institute at the University of Delaware and the Biden Cancer Initiative, all launched in 2017. All three entities have refused to reveal the sources of their funding, a potential landmine for the Democrats’ presumptive presidential nominee that raises questions about the influence of individual, corporate, and foreign donations on the presidential candidate.

The lack of transparency has drawn the attention of a watchdog group that is now demanding that the federal government investigate whether foreign money has flowed to the Biden Center in Philadelphia.

It’s incredible how many frauds are being attached to this Joe O’Biden crook.
What gets me is how brazen this con was, and UPENN was in on it and didn’t fear the public tar and feathering it’s soon going to get:

A teaching salary 3 or 4 times the top annual professor salary.
The teaching of Foreign Policy. How appropriate.
I did a quick Google search and found a list of classes they teach at UPENN;s Biden Center for Foreign Diplomacy:

International Embezzlement 101: How the NATO Raid on Libya Opened Opportunities for Middle East Donations to the U.S. — Guest Lecturer Michelle Obama will discuss the innovative Muslim Women’s education program.
Money Laundering Strategies 203 (also earns 3 credits for International Finance degree).
Using Military Power as a Lever to Increase Contributions for Political Campaigns 104 (special credit of 5 points for ROTC students and ex-military)
Graduate Level Class 505: Leveraging International Disaster Relief to Pull Down Huge Commissions to Political Leaders
Bonus Academic Lecture (2 graduation credits) Case Study on Haitian Earthquakes: How to Exploit Natural Disasters and Partnerships with Mobile Operators to Fill ReElection Coffers to the Brim
308 Ukraine Energy Case Study: A Collegiate Roundtable on Strong Arming Foreign Governments to Foil WhistleBlowers and State Prosecutors (also earns 3 credits for Ex-Navy Cocaine Addicts) — Guest Lecturer, Hunter Biden, international investor and consultant.

$100M UPenn donation........
Is this evidence of Chinese money
What does Gutman Know about this
By Ryan Briggs, WHYY-PBS, December 2, 2020

Two weeks after the University of Pennsylvania made a $100 million contribution to the School District of Philadelphia, it’s unlikely the cash infusion will inspire copycat donations from major higher education peers in the city.

When the Ivy League school made its announcement, City Councilmember Helen Gym and others voiced hope that other universities with large landholdings, like Temple or Drexel, might also pony up.

Why are these college presidents making so much money while students are being charged exorbitant fees? They should take less pay and reduce the ridiculous fees, especially since they are democrats and bemoan (falsely so) student loan debt.
