Noem charged into Iowa on Friday singing a battle hymn and armed with barbed comments for her fellow GOP governors. At a conservative gathering in Des Moines, she told the crowd she “really hates this America” under President Joe Biden’s leadership, then led them in singing “The Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
But Noem didn’t just take aim at political foes. She also unleashed sharp-edged comments on those within her own party, accusing fellow GOP governors of “rewriting history” by claiming they kept their states open during the pandemic.
“To pretend that they didn’t take actions that they had no authority to take isn’t standing on truth,” she told reporters Friday.
It’s easy to see why the 49-year-old governor, who is known as a scorched-earth campaigner in her home state, is elbowing out anyone trying to claim a more hands-off approach to the pandemic. She doesn’t have the experience of working alongside Trump, like Mike Pence, Nikki Haley or Mike Pompeo — all of whom have visited the presidential-proving ground of Iowa in recent days. Other potential rivals like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Texas Gov. Greg Abbott have the advantage of governing states that figure prominently in national politics.

Noem didn’t mention DeSantis by name during a Sunday speech at another conservative conference in Texas, but seemed to single him out when she accused other GOP governors of “pretending” they didn’t shut down their beaches.
“All I’m saying is that we need leaders with grit. That their first instinct is to make the right decision,” Noem told the audience at the Conservative Political Action Conference.

Noem would not be ready in 24 for the big chair and her sharp elbowed strike first attacks on potential allies shows a major lack of wisdom. Still like her, but less so. Her own doing.
She isn’t trying for the Presidency I don’t think. She said yesterday she is counting on Trump running again.

If she is doing the attacking unadvised on her own she is not wise, and if she is doing it because of advice she is also not wise. She is a pit bull, but lacks wisdom. We love pit bulls, but prudence dictates you not leave the pit bull babysitting toddlers.

Could be she is “interviewing” for press secretary or UN ambassador. Razor sharp elbows are a real plus.

All I had to do was take one look at her ‘adviser’ who told her to veto the ‘keeping guys out of girls sports’ bill to know to be very, very, wary of her.
I suspect you are right. Explains the attacks. The problem as I see it is they are first strikes. Any strike back is now fair game. Strategically dumb move. Shows a lack of wisdom and no grasp of strategy.

Her spokesman also accused our side of being a “Conservative Cancel Culture”...because we don’t support guys taking over girls sports.
If any DeSantis supporters see this as an attack on him, then they should ask themselves why they feel that way … and realize that she’s right.

Noem is a fraud. She caved to her chamber of commerce puppet masters & the NCAA and wouldn’t sign the bill banning sex perverts from competing in women’s/girls sports. Noem was able to keep her state open because nobody lives in South Dakota.

I never trusted Cruz, but think back. Strategically he did well. No first strikes. As I said, I like Noem. She has made a major mistake with this. When you strike you strike with a kill shot. DeSantis has been given 100% advantage. She took her queen off the board. She did a dumb thing. She showed a lack of wisdom. She showed she does not understand strategy. Came to a gun fight with a knife kind of thing. Probably did it on the advice of the same snake that told her trannies should be allowed to beat up girls.
She never attacked anyone by name. She accused Republican governors of ‘rewriting history’ by ignoring the fact they shut down states for a period of time. Noem was the only Governor to not close their state. She does deserve credit for that. Little Ron supporters think this is his moment. Somebody has to knock them down a peg or two.
