Escapade to DC by Texas Dems funded by Beto O’Rourke’s PAC

The Texas Democratic lawmakers who fled the state to prevent the passage of a GOP-backed election reform bill are having their trip to DC heavily funded by Beto O’Rourke’s political action committee — which includes a sizable donation from country superstar Willie Nelson.

O’Rourke — a Democrat who represented Texas in the House until losing a 2018 challenge to incumbent Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) — said Wednesday night that his Powered By People PAC had raised more than $525,000 to cover travel, lodging, food and other expenses.

The former lawmaker, who represented El Paso, launched the PAC shortly after his failed 2020 presidential bid.

Nelson and his wife, Anne, were among the donors, giving $5,000 toward the cause.

The group, who flew to the nation’s capital on a private jet, are expected to stay in DC for a month.

Isn’t that an illegal activity?

Exactly. Prosecute him (like the Dems always do, a little "Lawfare") for "Conspiracy against the State of Texas". He is interfering with the essential function of government.

Sure, it's a stretch. Let him beat it down. Just keep him tied up in knots for a couple years and keep repeating, Beto has been arrested for Sedition and Conspiracy against Texas!

Which should just about stick a fork in his career (if it's not done already).

1) Fine absent Dems $5,000 per day for each day missed.
2) Move absent Dems from their current offices to closets and hallways.

A majority vote by the Texas House would be all that is needed.

Your move Gov Abbott and AG Paxton.

I’m thinking the AGs office and Texas Dept of Revenue descend on the offices of his PAC with their Forensic Accountant SWAT teams and go through F*CKING EVERYTHING(emphasis mine).

If they wrote off a box of rubber bands improperly, I’d start charging folks with tax evasion. That’s what Vance is trying to do to President Trump.

I wonder if the lawmakers need to pay income taxes on this trip.

The problem is that we never give them a taste of their own medicine.

There’s an old saying that folks used to use when in New Orleans for the Mardi Gras festivities and getting mixed up with NOPD....

You might beat the case, but you ain’t gonna beat the ride.

Of course, Beto won’t have to pay for representation, as Elias or some other radical Leftist lawyer will defend pro bono.

But let them see what it’s like on the other side for once. And, since they think they’re immune from any investigation or prosecution, there’s no telling what he and they’ve been using that money for. It could get interesting.

100% correct. Time for that to change.

We’ll have to see if Abbott and Paxton have the cajones to do something.

Will they claim that gift on their financial disclosures?

If skipping town to prevent a quorum is illegal, then knowingly paying someone to skip town is conpsiracy.

Everything the dems to is illegal. I would love to see their plane land back in Texas with a Marshall for each one standing there with handcuffs, arrest all of them, and watch it on TV

FWIW, Beetoff’s father in law is reportedly a billionaire. That’s pocket change for the young John Kerry of Texas.
