California Gov. Gavin Newsom will not be able to identify himself as a Democrat on the ballot in September’s recall election, a Sacramento County Superior Court judge ruled on Monday.
In filing his official response to the recall effort from February last year, Newsom’s staff failed to designate his Democrat party affiliation. The governor’s campaign asked California Secretary of State Shirley Weber to allow the affiliation to appear, but she declined.
Newsom then filed a lawsuit (pdf) in Sacramento County Superior Court seeking to require all recall ballots to include beside Newsom’s name the words: “Party Preference: Democratic.” The recall election has been officially set for Sept. 14.
In the ruling, Judge James P. Arguelles rejected the governor’s request, stating that circumstances “do not justify excuse from the deadline.”
The law “unambiguously precludes party information from appearing on a recall ballot where the elected officer fails timely to make the designation,” the judge said.

The campaign ads just write themselves: “If Governor Newsom can’t even manage to fill out his own recall ballot party affiliation, how can he possibly be trusted to run the state?”
Well, there’s a lot not to like out here, I’ll give you that. But I’ll point out two things for you to consider before labeling it in such harsh terms.

Not much of a statistician huh? There are 37 million people in California. Even double that would be a terrible ratio.
How ironic is this? Kalifornia’s real and approved Election laws didn’t mean squat in the 2020 election. Maybe the judges are getting scared that a citizen backlash is coming against their constantly biased rulings that seem to always be in favor of the democrats communist agenda. Even the democrats know Newsom is radioactive, they want him gone too in hopes of saving their political criminal looting operations in the state.
Yet twice as many as Ohio. The point was not the percentage, but the raw number. It would take two states like Ohio to reach that total. The point is there’s a hell of a lot of us here who do not live like it’s a foreign country.

All mail-in? No...You could vote at a polling place if you want...But, I think all voters will get the ballots in the mail even if they never requested them...
I know that people in Oregon could only vote by mail...That is not true in CA...
I am a permanent absentee voter...I get a ballot in the mail for every election...I fill out the ballot...Then I take the ballot to my local polling place...

Heck, I don’t even like the city I’m in, and I grew up here! It has turned Dem, and if my grandkids weren’t here, I’d move to a more conservative city... but not in CA!
You like CA? I have no problem with that. To me, the politics have spoiled the beauty. I won’t go back.
