Hi.

Bible in a Year:
Even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen.
When Conner and Sarah Smith moved five miles up the road, their cat S’mores expressed his displeasure by running away. One day Sarah saw a current photo of their old farmhouse on social media. There was S’mores in the picture!
Happily, the Smiths went to retrieve him. S’mores ran away again. Guess where he went? This time, the family that had purchased their house agreed to keep S’mores too. The Smiths couldn’t stop the inevitable; S’mores would always return “home.”
Nehemiah served in a prestigious position in the king’s court in Susa, but his heart was elsewhere. He had just heard news of the sad condition of “the city where my ancestors are buried” (Nehemiah 2:3). And so he prayed, “Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, . . . ‘if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name’ ” (1:8–9).
Home is where the heart is, they say. In Nehemiah’s case, longing for home was more than being tied to the land. It was communion with God that he most desired. Jerusalem was “the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.”
The dissatisfaction we sense deep down is actually a longing for God. We’re yearning to be home with Him.
Reflect & Pray
What’s your idea of home and why? In what ways do you sense yourself longing for God?
Father, help me understand that only You can satisfy my longings. Help me be at home with You, no matter where I am.

Hi everybody!

Scott, later Richards-Gebaur, (we called it Dickie Goober) also used to be the Headquarters of Air Force Communications Command (AFCC) my old command, under Major General Paul Stoney. I met him once, at Laughlin, only about 5’ 3” He genuinely had the welfare of his troops at heart, and was well liked by all of us. 👍
Good evening, Mayor...thank you for today’s sustenance for body and soul.
Hope your Monday has gotten your week off to a good start.

Greetings to all at the Canteen!
To all our military men and women, past and present,

Hey there, radu!
How were things in your corner of the world? It’s still very pleasant here. For now.
Howdy, luvie.
Things are a little frustrating in my corner of the world tonight. As soon as I posted earlier, internet went bye-bye. It’s back at the moment but for how long remains to be seen.
It was steamy hot all day, then we had a big batch of rain come through around 7:00 this evening.
Glad things are still pleasant there for the time being. Wouldn’t it be nice if that weather would stick around for the rest of the summer? :-)
Uh-oh. Sorry you’re having internet problems. Is there bad weather somewhere around there besides just rain? I’m glad you got the rain, though. I’m sure your flowers will be, too!
I would be a happy camper if this weather lasted the rest of the summer. I have friends in CA and in other parts of the west, including PRO, and they are really suffering. I’m thankful for this respite. Not taking it for granted though.
How's everyone doing this morning?
It seems to be behaving now. No telling what was going on with the ‘net earlier. It wasn’t the weather. We didn’t have storms - - just rain and that was already out of here.
I’m sure you WOULD be a happy camper if your current weather lasted the rest of the summer. LOL! I imagine PRO and everyone else out west would love to have some of it too. It’s been insanely hot lately.
