Police officers and officials in 21 districts and Thu Duc City booked many residents for such offenses as failure to wear face masks in public, going outside without proper reasons, participating in gatherings of over two people, and operating non-essential businesses despite a ban, on Friday and Saturday.
District-level administrations issued fines totaling VND841 million ($36,600) for these violations, said Tu Luong, deputy director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications.
Meanwhile, police units imposed another VND389 million ($16,900) worth of fines.

Vietnam had almost no cases until 2 months ago, so was taking its time getting vaccinated, while countries such as the USA rapidly deployed lots, and lots of vaccinations.
Now is the time to help here. Please.

That number is very low because Vietnam had been doing very well at avoiding a large outbreak, for an entire year.
Really up until last month.
However, the numbers here are (rapidly) increasing now.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Vietnam.

Choice three: lockdown, medical emegency, 100% tracking, zero privacy forever. Since Vietnam is already a police state, they will choose 3 and add choice 2 over time. The correct choice is a mix of 1 and 2, although some people prefer just choice 1.
