Fort Lauderdale Accepts Proposal for Tunnel From Elon Musk's Boring Company

The city of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has reached an agreement with Elon Musk’s Boring Company to build an underground transit system offering rides in Teslas between downtown and the beach, CNN Business reports.

"Fort Lauderdale formally accepted tonight a proposal from [Elon Musks’ Boring Company] to build an underground transit system between downtown and the beach. Other firms have 45 days to submit competing proposals," Mayor Dean Trantalis said in a tweet on Tuesday. "This could be a truly innovative way to reduce traffic congestion."

"The Las Olas Loop," will likely resemble the Loop that the company built and recently opened at the Las Vegas Convention Center...

Local officials hope that the tunnel will reduce congestion at the beach’s parking lots since it will allow people to park their cars downtown and take the loop the rest of the way...

The Boring Company is also in talks with Miami Mayor Francis Suarez, who earlier this year toured the Las Vegas loop...

Suarez told Fox Business that his "goal is to do a procurement that's similar to what happened in Las Vegas, maybe even piggyback off Las Vegas. And in Las Vegas, [the Boring Company] financed it and had a guaranteed maximum price. So the idea would be potentially for them to finance it as well."

What is that?
Like a half mile or so?
Ground water is about 6 feet down...

Apparently, he is already hiring for a tunnel between LA and Las Vegas: https://www.teslarati.com/boring-company-secret-tunnel-adelanto-california-hiring/

There are also plans for a whole transportation network within Vegas. The solid line at the Convention Center is already operating, the rest is just concept:

Don’t tempt them. We have enough over-development up her in Northern Palm Beach County. Way more than enough!

I was impressed by the tunnel highway in Singapore speed up my taxi ride from cruise terminal to airport by bypassing city traffic.

From Singapore I flew back to San Francisco and SF airport had the feel of a 3rd world airport compared to the airport in Singapore.

If he can build a tunnel in Florida it is an immense challenge. It’s not typically known for it’s solid subterranean stableness.

“between downtown and the beach” Do that many people in Fort Lauderdale own submarines or is Musk building those too?
