CNBC ^

With new mutations discovered every few weeks, many scientists now predict that Covid will continue circulating around the world for at least the next two to three years, requiring nations to reinstitute public health measures on an ad hoc basis for the foreseeable future

Ya’ll keep wearing your masks and getting your vaccines.

Normal people who aren’t pansies will go about life as normal and survive.

It’s pretty telling that the reactions the media & politicians have orchestrated among the population shows how easily manipulated the peasants are.

This will all end in tyranny.

Wise people get it.

Oh sod off, I just ate IN a McDonalds today instead of sitting out in the drive thru line, used the kiosk to order and got free refills again. Better not go back.

These variants are reminiscent of the weather channel naming every snowflake and declaring the arrival of yet another apocalypse.

The 85 year old may be vaccinated for the flu and other things. The covid shots are not vaccines, they are poison that does nothing to prevent covid or the so called variants. They do cause many blood clots and other horrible ad murderous side effects that we have yet to know all the horrors of.

“Which states killed the most people ? Wasn’t it NY and NJ with the mask mandates ?”

You are not correct. COVID deaths as of today.

New York - 33,442
New Jersey - 26,490
Florida - 37,985

Delta isn’t killing anyone go back to hiding in your basement. Do you really think they test everyone for Delta? It’s all guesswork or more likely more fear porn.

When adjusted for population (deaths per 100,000) the winners are:

New Jersey - 265 deaths per 100,000
Rhode Island - 240 deaths per 100,000
Massachusetts - 236 deaths per 100,000
Mississippi - 229 deaths per 100,000
Arizona - 224 deaths per 100,000
Connecticut - 216 deaths per 100,000
South Dakota - 215 deaths per 100,000
Louisiana - 213 deaths per 100,000
Alabama - 207 deaths per 100,000
New York - 201 deaths per 100,000

Those are the top ten.

Texas is way down the list with 153 deaths per 100,000

Florida is 150 deaths per 100,000

Mask wearing has ZERO statistical influence on fatalities. Some states with stringent requirements had high death numbers as did some with more lax requirements.

Measles, smallpox, and polio being exceptions. Measles may not necessarily kill you in a modern developed nation (death rate down from 30% in the 1920s to ~0.3% now), but there’s a ton of evidence for lymphatic system damage from measles infection which effectively “erases” the immunity you’ve built to prior diseases. That can have serious consequences when you’re exposed to the normal everyday pathogens that your body is usually well prepared to fight because it already knows how to beat them. That immune system depletion lasts roughly 2 years. That’s a very dangerous two years. And in undeveloped nations, that 30% mortality rate holds.

R0 for measles is estimated between 12 and 18. At that rate, it’s effectively like having a 6-foot cloud all around you that will infect pretty much anyone who hasn’t developed immunity through vaccination or infection recovery.

I think this year’s flu will be light, but not as light as 2020-2021. People are still largely more cautious than they used to be. That impacts seasonal flu’s ability to spread.

In future years, vaccines built on the mRNA platform will likely start pushing 90-95% effectiveness, and flu season may go the way of the dinosaur. The reason is that the mRNA platform allows for extremely rapid development and production. Rather than having to “grow” (culture) the vaccine in something like chicken eggs (which takes months), you simply plug in the nucleotide sequence and start churning out vaccine doses immediately. That means they can wait until flu season actually arrives, see what the active strains actually are (rather than guessing months in advance), and custom build the right vaccine for what’s actually present.

99.2% of all COVID-19 deaths in May in the US were unvaccinated people. Only 0.8% of the deaths were among the fully vaccinated. Most deaths happen in people over 65 years old. 80% of people over 65 in the US are vaccinated. If the vaccines did nothing, 80% of the COVID-19 deaths would be among vaccinated people. But they aren’t. It’s 0.8%. Two orders of magnitude less. Israel vaccinated most of their country and has had 4 COVID-19 deaths in the entire country in the past month. That’s in a country of over 9 million people. They went from 100 a day to 4 in a month. That’s three orders of magnitude reduction.

The vaccines work. The data proves it. Observable reality is real. Denying it is irrelevant because it’s still real. Raging against it is irrelevant because it’s still real. Presenting alternate realities based on fantasies is irrelevant, because it’s still real.

But that is a biased viewpoint. That is where really sick people will end up. Of course you’re going to see very sick and dying people.

Meanwhile, my doctor uncle and aunt hardly experienced anything significant in their rural/small town hospital and my uncle’s assignment tending to the prison. Their hospital was all ready by shutting down a whole floor for this. Yet out of 40 beds no more than 20 ever filled it up.

My niece was a nursing tech in Hopkins COVID unit all year until she moved to private practice in May.

Meanwhile, in the regular world I’m not seeing anything. No dying in the streets. My MIL did die of COVID in Jan but our region of the family all had it and we are fine. Including my elderly frail mother. MY nephew and his wife and in laws had it last year, MIL’s extended family had it before her around TG and no deaths. I’ve not known anyone else that died of COVID. Or suffered serious issues…yet.

I am not confident these vaccines will NOT have major negative effects. They have to prove it is really safe after this rush job effort. This disease is not worth the risk of a rushed bunch of vaccines.
