The U.S. Capitol Police will open a field office in Tampa and another in San Francisco.
Six months after supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the U.S. Capitol, the U.S. Capitol Police will open a field office in Tampa to investigate threats to members of Congress.
In a news release Tuesday titled, “After the Attack: The Future of the U.S. Capitol Police,” the agency detailed changes since Jan. 6, including boosting recruiting, training and equipment for officers. The agency is also in the process of opening its first field offices.
“The new USCP field offices will be in the Tampa and San Francisco areas. At this time, Florida and California are where the majority of our potential threats are,” the agency said in an email Tuesday to The News Service of Florida.
The agency said launching field offices on the country’s East Coast and West Coast will benefit investigations seeking to weed out potential threats.
“A regional approach to investigating and prosecuting threats against members is important, so we will be working closely with the U.S. Attorney’s Offices in those locations. More field offices will be opening in the future,” the email said.
More than 500 defendants face charges in the U.S. Capitol breach in January, the agency said Tuesday.

All they had to do was lock the doors on Jan. 6. This is a disgusting lie they are perpetrating.
IIRC politicians are always getting threats.Of course very, very few of them are acted upon. Would I be wrong to assume that only threats to Rats...and Trump haters...will be investigated?
What threats are in San Francisco in a city full of progressives?
Someone threatened Queen Nan’s ice cream freezer.
U.S. Capitol Police opening a Stasi unit near you.
Maybe Yoganada could start by explaining how she missed the guy in D.C. Who shot Steve Scalise.
Oh but that would be too close to home. It’s important to get out into the provinces and extend your power.
When Bernie Sanders follower attacked a baseball game with a rifle there were crickets from the left.....disgusting
Florida, home to DeSantis and Trump.
CA, which is in the process of recalling its gov.
What a coinkydink.
Wonder who in SanFran is sending threats. I’d like to see the intel on that doozy.
Oh wait...National Security, G14 Classified Confidential, Eyes Only, Special Access. Even most of Congress can’t see this intel, but trust us, the threats are credible. Scouts honor.
This intel is just as reliable as the PCR test and all the COVID stats that we’ve been shoving down your throat for over a year.
Is it coincidental that they are setting up offices right in with their leftist partners-in-crime in cities like TAMPA & SF?
“Defund the Capitol Police”... indeed
Gee, I remember when liberals were applauding the congressional softball shooter (top pic)
And what happens when the first raid occurs? My understanding is that the Capitol Police don't have to comply with the same procedures other law enforcement has to--one of the reasons 14000 hours of security camera footage from Jan 6th is being witheld.
And let me guess. Nanzi’s husband (or perhaps other relatives, or big donors) will be given the contract to provide office space and support services to those branch offices, and only friends / relatives / sycophants will be put on the government payroll to staff them.... and they will be mostly ‘no-show jobs’.
Bernie Bro James Hodgkinson intended to assassinate twenty or so Republicans.
As you relate . . . crickets. Not news.
The Capitol Police is not an agency of the executive branch of government, it is a congressional agency. According to past DOJ policy, no federal prosecutive action can commence based on investigations conducted by the legislative branch of government. This is why no prosecutions ever take place based on GAO investigations (GAO is a congressional agency). This is a scary time in our history. We cannot allow politicians to initiate and direct investigations of ordinary citizens.
So what will be viewed as “threats against lawmakers?” I suspect any views that certain lawmakers are uncomfortable with, microaggressions and such.
<>Under what authority is this allowed? There has to be an issue with jurisdiction.<>
Beats me.
Perhaps under the same authority the Deep State used to remove President Trump . . . no authority at all.
What about one in Kentucky for Rand Paul? [/S]
He’s the only member who was actually assaulted.
Things in this country are never as they are reported, check what the other hand is doing.
