Hamilton was thin on history. 1776 music is very singable

Yankee Doodle Dandy is a great, patriotic film. The ending when Cagney walks down the stairs, tap dances halfway down, and then resumes walking is perhaps the second greatest dance scene of all time in a film.

I'd add 1959's The Devil's Disciple, with Douglas and Lancaster.

I love that movie! Watch it every year around the 4th. This year I’m out of town but will watch it my first night back home.

I am 3/4 of the way through 1776, and OMG, how I enjoy it. Last time I saw this was probably 45+ years ago, and I appreciate this movie so much more today.

Lewis Morris:
Mr. President, have you ever been present at a meeting of the New York legislature? [Hancock shakes his head "No"]
Lewis Morris:
They speak very fast and very loud, and nobody listens to anybody else, with the result that nothing ever gets done.
Nothing has changed in 245 years.

Another favorite line of mine:
"A committee formed to think, perhaps to do,
but in any case, to gather, to meet, to confer, to talk,
and perhaps even to resolve that each rifle regiment
be allowed at least one drum and one fire attached to each company,
designated as the Drum and Fife Committee."

I did “1776” back in 2003 with a local theatre group. I played Franklin. We rented the costumes from New York and they were absolutely a hoot to wear.

Hidden Figures??? We always watch 1776 on July 4th. We began the week watching the miniseries Sons of Liberty.

1776 - OK; not woke or anti-American, but a little boring with forgettable musicPlease --- Sit Down John is great, and it fits into the story of John Adams being not well liked. I saw the stage play in Chicago, and I can tell you that the Molasses to Rum to Slaves song was, what used to be called, a showstopper. It was intense to see live.

Captain America - haven’t seen, but it’s modern-day Marvel; is it really that much better than the other Marvel garbage? It is a Captain America origin story. It takes place during WWII, so that is very different. I liked it; but, I liked the MCU movies, with the exception of Captain Marvel. I know that Brie Larsen won an Oscar for some film she was in; but, I think she is just such a wooden actor. Also, contrary to Oprah saying that Black Panther wasn't a movie, it was a Revelation -- Black Panther was just okay. And the Tomatometer on that film would back me up as, I think, there is a 20 point difference between the Critics score and the Audience score.
One of the reasons that I like the MCU movies, is that they are, at least, entertaining; which is saying something for the movies that come out lately. At least with the MCU movies, you can have a good time without getting p.o.'d about the "wokeness".
