TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — The U.S. and Japan are reportedly conducting secret war games in preparation for a potential military confrontation with China over Taiwan.
The Financial Times on Thursday (July 1) cited six sources as saying that the U.S. and Japan started preparing contingencies for a conflict with China since the last year of the Trump administration. This planning reportedly involves "top-secret tabletop war games and joint exercises in the South China and East China seas."
In the face of increased threats from China in 2019, Abe Shinzo expanded military training, and in 2020 war games and joint military training between the U.S. and Japan were stepped up by the Trump administration. The newspaper cited three sources as saying that this cooperation between the militaries of the two nations has continued under the Biden and Suga administrations.

A normandy-style invasion of Taiwan is probably the last thing China will do.
They will tie Taiwan ever-closer economically, welcome and integrate Taiwanese Chinese on the mainland (many of whom are already there for business), foment chaos in some areas, promote certain Taiwan government people and celebrities, and isolate others.
Probably not unlike how the CIA manages countries like the Ukraine.

I hear the Philippines and Japan are also conducting allied war games.
There needs to be a strong, anti-Chicom alliance. Get Malaysia and Indonesia into the game, as well as India and Vietnam.
In my opinion, the main enemy nations are China, Russia and the Iranians. Too bad about the Russians, the Left in this country are forcing them to be against us.

The PLAN is not worried about the CVN’s escorting Aegis destroyers - the PLAN will send in their fleet of container ships to attract the destroyers who will obligingly crash into them, leaving the CVNs exposed ... The on deck gay parades will terrify the first PLAN ships, but attrition will whittle the defense down to bare thongs.
20 years ago a Taiwanese guy told me that the Chicoms would not invade, they would just lob rockets into every port in Taiwan, on a regular basis. They would also buy massive amounts of U.S. Treasury Bonds, and when the fireworks started, they would just call them in for redemption, if the U.S. interfered, and hamstring us, economically. Everything would be over in a few weeks.
I have seen nothing in the last two decades that makes me think he was wrong.

A retired car club buddy was on Schwarzkopf’s staff and said when countries release “secret” information, it’s to alert the other side that they are ready for them. The idea is not to fight. So, if you tell the other side you’ve developed a radar that can see their stealth aircraft, then they can’t play their wargame and pretend nobody can see it and they’ll just wipe the board clean of your ships or planes. Virtually every “leak” is planned.
The companies I worked for sometimes put out press releases on their Jim-dandy new hardware and employees would complain that it was supposed to be secret. I was in the position to know that everything released was done so at the behest of the military. Every word of every article was approved before publication.

If they are serious, send a few thousand soldiers, construction and caving engineers, and a slew of heavily Suribachi type coast artillery to the Senkaku islands. Patrol around it with a couple of Soryu class subs. Have Lexus/Toyota assemble a few world class nukes in about 6 weeks.
