Why almost no one is looking hard for a job
Axios ^ | 6-30-2021 | Axios

There are around 10 million unemployed Americans and over 9 million open positions. But most people aren't urgently seeking out those jobs.

The big picture: For the first time in decades, workers have the power to be choosy.

By the numbers: Only about 10% of job seekers say they're actively and urgently looking for work, according to a new survey from the jobs site Indeed. Around 45% are passively looking for jobs, and another 30% plan to get a job in the near future but aren't looking at all right now.

Many people are getting free rent and Wuhan checks from the federal gov’t.

Why work even if you can make a little more versus sitting home and doing what you want all day?

We have erased the work ethic from our society.

How willing can someone be to commit to a job where a governor can issue more illegal diktats and screw up?

How many people are trying to figure out what changes they need to make before they bail out of Democrat-ruined areas?

************

Many of those “open positions” are not really open because they can only be filled by certain applicants who are members of protected groups. Just sayin.

When you get paid more not to work than work why work? If the RATs were deliberately trying to ruin America I'd be hard put to see anything different from what they are doing now.

If I was interviewing peeps the first thing I would ask is where were you working during the scamdemic? If they said they didn’t work, I would say thanks for coming in.

A lot of people are in for a rude awakening once this is all over.

An analysis from the firm Jeffries reported by the Wall Street Journal shows that states that have ended [enhanced] UI have lower rates of unemployment than those that have not.

Why work when the government is making it lucrative to stay home and goof around?

Being semi-retired after selling a small business I’ve tried to find some work-at-home computer stuff just to keep busy but no one seems overly interested in hiring me.

I assume that explains a portion of the problem. Employers hoping to continue paying as little as they can is another.

When the unemployment checks and other free money end, it will get dicey for a lot of people. Just like what happened in 2008, but as usual, history repeats with a twist.

More than balanced out by a disproportionate number of the unemployed also being members of these protected groups.

The entire US work force is around 150,000 million. 10 million is not a lot....

When the bonus checks dry up they will seek work if they need money.
