Plans for former President Donald Trump to return July 4th weekend to the city many credited with lending legitimacy to his 2016 campaign after USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park commissioners reportedly did not sign off on a plan for Trump to hold a rally at the Mobile site.
The commissioners were concerned that Trump’s appearance on Saturday “was going to be a partisan political event, rather than just a patriotic event planned for that evening,” Bill Tunnell, chairman of the commission, told NBC 15.
Efforts to reach Tunnell were not successful.
The commissioner told the station the body asked Attorney General Steve Marshall for an opinion on whether it would be acceptable for the park to hold the rally. Marshall said he could not give the group a formal opinion in time for the event but said the park can be used for political purposes as long as all parties and candidates have equal access, NBC 15 reported.
The park was the site of a campaign rally for 2012 Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum.
“Rick Santorum was the, was the straw that broke the camel’s back. And that’s when the commission went to the no partisan politics open to the public,” Tunnell said.

You might have a point. I was thinking more on the lines of a NCAA top 10 football program tailgate, where well over stadium capacity show up just to have a good time. Since, I don't do sports of any sort these days, this would be an excellent reason to do what I used to do most weekend during football season. Minus the football and minus all the leftists.

Mobile County went 55 to 43 Trump. Next door in Baldwin County they went 76 to 22 Trump. Mobile is a typical metro area with 50% blacks. The AREA is majority conservative by a wide margin.
Ok. On short notice he will hold his 4th of July rally somewhere else. Due to short notice there will only be 50k there and another 15k outside. The more they try to shut him out the more support he gets. He may pull 85 million votes in 2024. I am sure biden will get 90 million sitting in his room.
There are two significant dates of when WW11 ended which haven’t been observed[ Aug 15 when the Japanese Navy declared cease which ended the war and September 2nd when Japan signed the peace treaty on the battleship Missouri. If Trump selects either date to hold a rally then it would have national significance
It should want you to work hard to make sure Trump is reinstated in 2021.
On the bright side, this means that any appearance by Pres. Trump’s predecessor is also a political event.

Mobile is my hometown and it’s the saddest stupid good ole boy city there is. Mobile did not prosper during the Trump years like they should have. I mean you can’t have a better mercantile location than Mobile. Why is it depressed? Where is the full tilt gentrification? Everyone want to live in Baldwin County or West Mobile now.
