” Examples of authentic leisure activities are: prayer, silence, and walking in nature.”

I would like to suggest another activity to this list. While I love the way prayer, silence, and nature relax and rejuvenate me, playing music also does. I am certainly not an accomplished musician. I only strum a Mountain Dulcimer, and when I need to relax, or when I feel depressed for example, softly and slowly playing through the tunes I know is therapeutic. In fact encompassing the whole list by softly strumming prayer hymns on the porch where I can see, smell, and hear the mountain and forest around me is even better.

I sooth my soul by doing nothing. My favorite pastime is sitting on my patio with an unobstructed view of the Sierras. Makes me forget all the happy horsechit going on in the world.

I read FR as a leisure activity, although sometimes I end up more agitated than relaxed.
