THE Taliban have seized control of a THIRD of Afghanistan as they continue to accelerate their blitz offensive while the US continues to withdraw their forces.
The US has wasted nearly $1trillion on the "pointless" 20-year battle trying to stave off the terror group who are fighting to gain ultimate control over the war-torn country.
The Taliban have been on tenterhooks to forge ahead with their scheme since President Joe Biden announced the withdrawal of troops back in April and have since continued at "lightning speed".
Jihadist forces have now advanced across rural areas, putting them in reaching distance of major cities such as Herat and Kabul.
A recent US intelligence report warned they could take the capital, Kabul, within six months.

All the wounded warriors. Thousands of amputees. Thousands.
“When I see our wounded warriors I think of what the neocons did to them and our country.”
Dittos. Nice tagline, too!
“The sad thing is that we won decisive victories in both Afghanistan and Iraq only to have the victories squandered and thrown down the toilet by feckless politicians and generals.”
Afghanistan is incapable of running a modern democracy. Impossible.
“Neither syphilis nor moslems will ever be eradicated from this earth.”
Muslims are the fire ants of the human race. And there is only 1 way to get rid of fire ants. Complete, all out war, decimation. Until not one is left.
I’m not sure you understand the true intentions. The Taliban for religious reasons had almost completely eradicated the poppy trade and fields. And would have except we went in to intervene and build the trade back up again “For their protection” of course.
My sentiments exactly. They were best friends but also individuals that you could trust....sometimes with your life.
Re: 6 - I think the motives and objectives were good for 2-3 years. After that, we tried to force onto Afghans something they did not want. The results speak for themselves.
We all recall what happened to the Soviet Union after they were defeated in Afghanistan. Their economy collapsed. But that can’t happen here.

Bush, Cheney, and the rest of them ought to hang.
Yeah. We’re too big to fail. ;)

I said on September 12, 2001 the best “anti-terror” strategy was a straight-up travel ban with all Muslim countries of South Asia, Mid-east and North Africa. They can’t attack America if they aren’t in the country.
Bush and the deep state decided that $$Trillions in wars and useless nation-building was a better idea.
Unexpected.
The notion that Afghanistan or any middle eastern country could be turned into a Western-friendly democracy, however, was a dumb and costly belief.
I guess we have not learned the lessons of Vietnam after all.
In war you have to fight to win, not to fight for the hearts and souls.
We got so hung up on Afghan girls being able to go to school.
I don’t care about Afghan girls or their schools. We needed to be there for about three months. Not 20 years.
The slaughter is going to be heartbreaking.
Should have just let the Russians keep it.
I still believe that the so-called "Bush Doctrine" was correct: attack them over there as a military engagement instead of waiting to engage them over here as a policing matter.
Just look at how the Left has "progressed" to defunding the police today. Imagine how they would have reacted to engaging terror cells running rampant across America in 2001-2004 and beyond?
It was best to pick a ground, whether it be Afghanistan or Iraq, and let that be the magnet for drawing the enemy in, instead of waiting for them to make the second move in Boston or Chicago or Miami or Los Angeles, or Indianapolis or Dallas or Salt Lake City or Tulsa.
