There is a saying in American Politics: "As Maine goes, so goes the nation." Today, in this 2021 Virginia off-year election, one may substitute Virginia for Maine as regards 2022 even 2024.
At least that is the opinion expressed in a fundraising letter by James Carville in support of "Terry for Governor" — nice folksy touch with "ain't" and "geeked up," but make no mistake: James Carville is a serious political player for the Democrat party.
It ain't a mystery why Trump is all geeked up about Youngkin. Election experts are saying Democrats could lose Virginia. If that happens, Republicans would get a huge surge of momentum going into the 2022 midterms.
So it's this simple:
If Glenn Youngkin wins, Donald Trump wins. Worse, Trumpism will be on the march again heading into a pivotal midterm for the future of our democracy.
His appeal has six references trying to tie Republican candidate Glenn Youngkin to Donald Trump. Consequently, if that is all they have, as a proud Virginia H.S. grad, I do not think they will get far in their ad nauseam "Orange Man Bad" campaigning.
I was honored to meet Candidate Youngkin twice and even took his picture for an article. Please note that he is neither orange nor bad.
On a beautiful early spring day in Rappahannock County Virginia known as "The Sunny side of the Blue Ridge," a candidate in the 2021 Virginia Republican Primary Glenn Youngkin reached out to his fellow Virginians to ask for the most precious commodity they own in a democracy–their vote.
Standing outside and framed by mountains, he sincerely expressed the courage of his convictions defining his vision for our future.
It could have been exactly like earlier intellectual giants spoke in such informal settings such as George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James Monroe and Patrick Henry,

No way they let The Punk lose this one
McAweful is asking for six debates - usually the stronger candidate doesn’t want any debates …
RE: No way they let The Punk lose this one
And that, my friend is what worries me. What do you me that “THEY LET”? This implies that who wins are loses are ENTIRELY IN THEIR ( whoever “they” are ) HANDS and there’s nothing voters can do at all.
Does this mean that the elections are determined by their ALLOWING someone to win? IF so, why not just LET every leftist win elections by default?
Hillary has been asking that exact question for the past five years.
They HAVE been in VA ever since they’ve been able to. Not only is the VA R party a bought and paid for subsidiary of the Democrats, but the Dems have also clearly been committing massive fraud in VA for some time now.
Democrats here in Virginia have stuck it to the police and law enforcement at every turn. One of Terry’s parole board appointees opened the floodgates releasing hundreds of violent criminals. Some immediately killing again upon release. When not undermining public safety they are trying to jam CTR down our kid’s throats. Republicans should remind Virginians of this every day. When I saw Louden County parents standing up to these liberal idiots, it was apparent that people are sick of Democrats.
Carville’s feverish rantings aside, this gets filed in the “ludicrously false hope is better than no hope at all” category.
For every good gun-totin’, God-fearin’ person somewhere in rural Virginia there are at least 2 third-world scumbags in NOVA, the Richmond area & the Tidewater area. They’re multiplying like cockroaches while the good people flee daily. Even if votes were counted honestly (LOL) the state has already tipped over demographically.
You left out Charlottesville and Roanoke......
The answer is Heck No!!!

Yep, Virginia is a lost cause for the reasons you’ve cited. There is a huge and constantly growing number of government workers and immigrants (legal and illegal), now dominating the politics of that once-great Southern state.
Roanoke, where I say a guy holding a sign “Not gonna lie, need beer money”.
