San Francisco's homelessness department is seeking $20 million in additional funding to extend an encampment program that already funds tents that cost over $60,000 a year.
This week, officials from San Francisco's Department of Homelessness and Supportive Housing went before the the Board of Supervisors' Budget and Appropriations Committee and requested $20 million over the next two years to keep six 'Safe Sleeping Village' tent encampments running.
The city's six encampment sites provide tents for the homeless as well as three meals a day, around-the-clock security and bathrooms and showers, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
The city created the sites in May 2020 during the height of the pandemic as a way to keep the city's homeless population off of crowded sidewalks and shelters, and into socially distanced camping sites in fresh air.

reward this...behaviour. This will be an enticement for more to come. Build it, and the people will come and fill it.. something about a movie that was made.
College costs are outrageous these days. But you can certainly find a college for less than $60,000. Homeless person in a tent? More expensive than college? Whut?
So?
These programs care less about value using taxpayer money. They exist in part as a make work project for the pols supporters with useless degrees who can’t get a real form of employment.
These programs are not designed to achieve any success other than providing employment to the unemployable.
Build homeless encampments and they will come. Getting to a point in SF where the homeless are beginning to crowd out the sanctuary illegals.
So Richard Blum and Paul Pelosi are in the tent renting business, huh?
It sure is a good thing that California has been so fiscally responsible all these years that they have this kind of money just lying around waiting for something useful to be spent on.
Elections matter. As a result urban America has become unlivable.
Yes, $5,000 a month, you can rent some very nice apartments in SF. Government at it’s finest! Taking tax payers’ money and rewarding their supporters. Never solve a problem, just rewards your supporters to stay in office.....
I can do it for $55 million.
Some “Friends of the Court” are raking this in big time.
$164 a day for tents? I could go to Wal and get a 4 person tent for $35 and a 10 person tent for $98. Does San Fran’s tent have gold plated zippers? Typical government, wasting money...

The Homeless Industrial Complex at work.
Of course only about $3 per bum makes it once the grifters and bureaucrats get their cut.

Time to reopen the old mental hospitals.
EVERY STINKING MAJOR CITY IN THE USA is run by DIMOCRATS and they have totally destroyed these cities, the people who live there and yet keep getting elected by these stupid fools who wait in line for their free chunk of cheese, a bag of powdered milk, a dozen eggs, and a check for $150 a month. THAT is what they used to give at a place in our town called the Commodities House. I asked my mom one day as we rode by this place, and saw this huge line of black and white people in lines waiting outside this large building what that place was. I was under age 10 at the time. She told me it was where the government gave away free commodities to these "poor" people.
We were not rich. We were a lower lower middle class family. Four kids, mom at home, dad working. We had food on the table, a home, a car, yet my parents did not go to the Commodities House for free stuff. My dad would have rather starved than say we were poor. He grew up on a farm, working day lite to dark working the place with his family. They WERE POOR. Dad KNEW poor. He was not going to let us live like that. He worked 12-15 hours a day, six days a week for us to have what we had. Back then $100 a week was HUGE money. Gas 27 cents a gallon, all your groceries cost $25 a week. Even with those prices, $100 was still not a lot. But we didn't get free stuff. My dad would not have it. Yet now we spend $65,000 a year for a tent. NO WONDER AMERICA HAS FALLEN INTO THE PIT OF HELL AND HAS BECOME A CESS POOL. We are now living in the bed this nation allowed itself to become.
Everybody go to CA. They’re swimming in money to spend for every social project A to Z.
Bingo!
That parking lot is going to get hot this summer. Maybe they’ll install a/c in the tents.
