This article is short on facts, but what’s being reported locally is that there was a retired cop on duty at the time as a security guard.
This all sounds fishy to me. It was 2:30 AM, two unnamed guys who “had been visting” the homeowner got robbed, and the guard then shot the robbers. The homeowner, one Richard Saghian is unharmed. Off the top of my head, I’d like to know what everyone was doing hanging out in front of the house on a quiet residential street at zero-dark thirty? And how come this guy has 24 hour armed security? Sounds like he’s in a dangerous sort of business, and might just be mixed up in something a little spicier than the “fashion” trade.

The homeowner was giving a party. The thieves follow a Rolls Royce to the residence and forced the guy to give up a bunch of jewelry and money I guess. Then he ran inside the home and the security guard came out and returned fire when the bad guy started shooting.

The shooting happened shortly before 2 a.m. outside a home in the 1400 block of Blue Jay Way during an attempted robbery on the street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. Two men outside the residence, who were visiting a home in the area, were approached by two men in ski masks, who forced the victims to the ground, police said.
A security guard who was protecting a nearby residence responded, and there was an exchange of gunfire, police said. The security guard was struck by gunfire in the stomach and hospitalized in critical condition.
