A liberal arts college in Massachusetts has warned its students and faculty against using 'violent language' - even banning the phrase 'trigger warning' for its association with guns.
Brandeis University in Waltham has created an anti-violence resource called the Prevention, Advocacy & Resource Center which provides information and advice to students and staff.
It lists words and idioms, including 'picnic' and 'rule of thumb,' which it claims are 'violent' and suggests dreary alternatives such as 'outdoor eating' for the former and 'general rule' for the latter.
The college claims that 'picnic is often associated with lynchings of black people in the United States, during which white spectators were said to have watched while eating, referring to them as picnics or other terms involving racial slurs against black people.'
Picnic is derived from the French 'pique-nique,' originally used to describe the taking of one's own wine to a meal, which later evolved to encompass the sharing of food outdoors and started being used in England in the 18th century.

I was out door eating and a birthing person party
A lot of what they posted is urban legend stuff. I guess you can’t mention Roy Rodgers horse (whisper) Trigger.
That list is the most stunning example of passive/aggressiveness that I have ever seen.
The left excels at being useless.
Calling the PC, WOKE, commies, corrupt intelligence and FBI out is not easy but it IS the way to keep a free country...
Well, I didn’t see that word on the list, so it must be OK.
Well, I didn’t see that word on the list, so it must be OK.
This is all Double un-good.
Oops.
Being useless would be preferable to what they are now, which is outright dangerous.
Didn’t Joe Xiden play his “picaninny”, for the”roaches” when he was a lifeguard?;^}
Rule of thumb has nothing to do whatsoever with what they claim and is a myth that has been pushed by the usual suspects. But what would you expect.
Now known as "Horse That Make Gun Go Bang!". /s
OK well our Creighton basketball coach got into a HUGE amount of trouble several months ago for saying, IIRC, something about staying on the plantation. ?? I don’t see that listed as being an offensive phrase, but he almost lost his job over it and probably had to undergo lots of diversity training.
I also see that we are not allowed to say “everything going on right now”, unless we refer to the specific victim situations that we have subjected some oppressed person or group to endure.....
And we can’t even say that this is all crazy!!
I know, it makes me want to go out and just say all of this over and over. Who knew about picnic???
Rule of thumb!
Don’t waste any time on this nonsense.
Here’s the real deal, you might need it if in a very bad spot:
You are being tracked and have limited concealment a light aircraft is circling overhead.
You have a rifle but only 100 rounds that may be needed later.
You do not want to waste ammunition but can only guess the distance and it can be deceiving.
HERE IT IS:
Hold your thumb out and up at arm’s length, like an artist, but viewing the aircraft.
If your thumb covers the aircraft, SAVE YOUR AMMO.
If your thumb does not cover the aircraft. GO FOR IT!
Just a bit of simple math and I hope you never need to use it.
I do that when flying GA type aircraft to size up distance on how far or how close; whether the aircraft is climbing my thumb or coming down - if climbing it’s coming towards me, conversely if its going down its going away.
LOL - so again, if God didn’t want us to have guns, why did He give us trigger fingers?
Sorry i dont follow marxist identity politics rules. I’m not a sociopath.
