Guardian Angels founder Curtis Sliwa has won the Republican mayoral primary in New York City.
Sliwa defeated businessman Fernando Mateo. Ranked choice voting wasn’t a factor because there were only two candidates in the race.

Does this guy have a snowballs chance in hell of winning?
Met Sliwa once on Park Avenue in NYC. Charismatic, intriguing person. But he’s a long, long shot to beat Adams who is playing up his police street cred even to the lefties who want someone to curtail the soaring crime. Sliwa is a Never Trumper, and barely a Republican who has lived nearly his entire adult life off his non-profit, the Guardian Angels. Rudi supports him so there’s that but he will have little overall R support. Wish him the best, hope he wins but odds are low he ever moves into Grace Mansion.
Sounds like Sliwa v. Adams will be a win-win for law and order in NYC.
Nope. Massive election fraud will see to that. The bartender - Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez - who has the brain of a 6 year old and talks like a 6 year old yet somehow now rules the democrap party - like my brother says: In the land of single digit IQs, the one who has an 11 is Queen” - endorsed Marxist Maya Wiley who was an advisor to Marxist Bill DeBlasio. I suspect she will be next Mayor even though Democrat Eric Adams is supposedly ahead of her in the polls, but Adams was a Captain in the NYPD which is a no no to AOC who wants to dismantle and abolish the police.
Depends on whether the rank and file democrats of NYC - not the far-left lunatics - decide to obey All Out Crazy, or cross the line and vote for a Republican who could be another La Guardia or Giuliani.
It’s happened before.
Sliwa would only stand a chance if he can drive in a tougher on crime message and can win over the Latino and Asian vote, although AOC will probably work hard to deliver the Latino vote for Adams.
So unless some serious corruption allegations are proved about Adams, he will be the next mayor. Hopefully he will make good on his pro-crime fighting promises and New York will become safer.
He and Giuliani just signaled that Sliwa is going to Eric Adams, the presumptive Democrat candidate for NYC mayor, up against the wall if he has to to force him to explain his rrlationship with Louis Farrakhan.
Eric Adams used to lead 100 Black Men in Law Enforcement. He can’t benefit from BLM and support law enforcement at the same time and NYC has a large and growing crime and safety problem.
Plus the incumbent NYC mayor is a Democrat and has been a disaster.
Trump will campaign shoulder to shoulder with Rudy Giuliani to support Sliwa.
Sliwa has much more than the proverbial snowball’s chance I’d say.
Jews can’t vote for Eric Adams who is a Louis Farrakhan acolyte.
Please consider comment #8.
Cortez won a very low turnout primary, where the incumbent was too lazy to even campaign, on the back of the hipster vote.
In her NY-14 district winning the Democrat primary means winning the seat.
The “Defund the police” crowd is not that popular in NYC and crime is the most important issue even for likely Democrat primary voters.
There is a hard ceiling for the hipster lady and it is virtually certain Adams wins.
Sliwa has been a Never-Trumper from the beginning. Trump should just leave him twist in the wind. He doesn’t deserve Trump’s endorsement.
Fanduel has him at 8,000,000 to 1 so I'm gonna bet a buck:)
Zero snark in connection with this comment, I assure you. I seem to have missed out on and completely failed to witness or observe any of Sliwa’s never-Trump campaign or behavior over the years. How did Sliwa carry it out?
How far did he take it? Did Sliwa ever end up giving Trump credit for anything or has he been taking cheap shots at Trump nonstop like so many other NeverTrumpers since, say, 2015?
