One year after the movement to "defund" police saw cities slash budgets and cut funding, the U.S. has seen an uptick in crime. Homicides alone are up 24% since January and more than 70% of people in a recent Fox News Poll said they believe crime is on the rise nationally. As a result, the pendulum may be swinging back in favor of the police.
"Now some cities are refunding the police department," FOX Business’s Stuart Varney said on Varney & Co.
Cities like New York City, Oakland, Baltimore, Minneapolis and Los Angeles are planning to reinstate tens of millions for the construction of new police precincts, increase police department budgets, among other plans to bankroll more efforts to confront the uptick in crime.
Overall, in several of the nation's largest local law-enforcement agencies, city and county leaders want funding increases for 9 of the 12 departments where next year’s budgets have already been proposed, with increases ranging from 1% to 6%, according to the Wall Street Journal.
New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio announced that the city will return $92 million for a new precinct after the project had been cut last summer. The move comes in the wake of a reported 16 shooting incidents and five homicides last weekend. New York Police Department (NYPD) crime data shows that shooting incidents in the Big Apple are up 68% year-to-date and up over 30% within the past month.

Refund the police? So the taxpayers are getting their money back?
How much did their taxes go down the police were downsized?
How much will their taxes go up now to pay for the additional police to bring the force back to the size it was before they “defunded” the police?
Good luck with recruits. They are not going to major cities. Decent candidates will go to suburbs or rural areas. I’m sure they will not mind working for Buckhead as soon as they are able to secede from Atlanta.
One has to wonder, What kind of people want to work for Democrats? Brown shirted, goose stepping, CRT people?

The social workers were apparently not able to control the rioting, arson, looting, assault, murder, etc.
Defund the police meant “allow street savages to do whatever they want, raping, killing, and stealing from those who actually work for a living.” That was what the democrats intended, and that’s what happened.
Defund the police had nothing to do with Floyd, and everything to do with the continued destruction of this country.
That was always the intention of the "Defund the Police" campaigns. It was about purging the forces.
The replacement forces will be obedient thugs who follow the orders of their Democrat masters.
And criminals will have no real obstacles as long as they select targets from the right classes of people. Democrats use criminals as shock troops against middle-class people.
Rich part of Atlanta that is no longer patrolled by Atlanta Police Department due to BLM protests last year. Now crime is soaring so Buckhead as trying to secede now so they can get their own mayor and police force.
Irony of ironies, thanks to the Defund the Police movement, young people who would have become policemen out of a desire to serve their communities by upholding law and order and keeping people safe will look elsewhere for a career. The only ones who will want to be cops will be bully boys who get their kicks being tyrants, and urban police departments will be full of Austin Hopps and Carlos Adulfos.
What exactly are they refunding? Are they going to hire social workers and call them police?
...so many people had to suffer and die to teach democrats common sense that they didn’t get in public schooling... hopefully the lessons stick and we have a renaissance, like we did after Carter and Dinkins.
And any cop who goes back to his old job is just plain crazy. What makes them think these city councils nd mayors would all of the sudden have their backs now.
This was entirely predictable.
