This is the interview that got Fox26 reporter Ivory Hecker fired.
In the interview, she alleges:
- The station editor makes racist decisions on story content.
- Fox Corporate agenda blocked stories on hydroxychloroquine, especially regarding the story about local doctor Stella Immanuel.
- Advertisers (including the Ad Council) influence story decisions re: advertising conflicts of interest.

She says in the interview that she was ready to leave.
She says that in J-school they teach that the reader's interests come first, but that corporate interests come first in the newsroom.
She says that J-school teaches that when corporate/government news interests define the news, that's the definition of propaganda.

I am surprised to learn that Fox26 even added a 5pm news hour.
Recall when they only had a 9 or 10pm broadcast on the local affiliate.

Obviously she knew that she was going to be fired, but so what ??
She wants to go the independent news route, what are the odds she gets hired by OAN, Newsmax, etc....or starts her own news site and tries to build it......

I’m pretty sure she knew that was coming. Of course she knew it was coming.
Fox26 Houston is a NewsCorp Owned & Operated (O&O) station, so Fox itself owns Fox26.
Most Fox affiliate stations are independently owned, but this one takes orders from Fox Corporate headquarters.

There has been a lot of competition in local Houston news.
Fox26 (KRIV) does a full hour of news at 5PM because they don't have a national news program.
ABC13 added a 3PM half-hour and 4PM full-hour broadcast, too, followed by their 5PM half-hour program.
KHOU (CBS) and KPRC (NBC) only does a 4PM full-hour and the 5PM half-hour news broadcast.

In the interview, Hecker says that they were all surprised at the blackout of Dr. Immanuel, and that the station president said it was because President Trump said hydroxychloroquine worked so the media went in the opposite direction.

I like listening to conservative talk radio at night. However the way that the most annoying public service ads are run over and over again makes me wonder if this was a subtle form of censorship. The trick is to annoy you so much much with their insipid ads you turn off the radio.

When I was commuting to and from work on a bus, I would listen to internet broadcasts of radio stations on iHeart. The ads from the Ad Council were particularly annoying.
Over time, I would begin to recognize the voices and realize that it's probably an ensemble of about 5 or 6 people who do all of the ads for whatever PSA they are pushing.
Also, internet radio has to block the local ads or pay royalties, so they fill the time by playing the Ad Council ads over and over to fill the dead air, sometime repeating the same ad two or three times in the same block.

I kind of wish that Harley and McNamara had been chosen to succeed the great Rush. They are outstanding, and they do not suffer fools gladly.

There is a local guy in Phoenix who calls his show ‘The Conservative Circus’. James T. Harris. He would be a worthy replacement.

Brave. Career suicide, but brave.
I have sibling that worked for a Fox station in the 90’s. The news was “managed” then.
