Well that would make him differ from his predecessor Rick Perry, who seemed to think "states rights" applied to anything and everything EXCEPT border security... "that's the federal government's job" (and meanwhile, La Raza Rick will pander to them by offering them in-state tuition rates)

Hate to say it but Texas needed the guts to assert this 30-40 years ago and took care of the building/financing and upkeep of the Rio Grande wall, not the feds. When the oil patch was making money hand over fist was the time to do it.
They should have signs leading outsiders westward along the fence and included maps to California.
