Every red state should do this...

Plus have residents of the states send their IRS taxes to the state..and just send money for what the Feds are supposed to do...Defense ect a...

Kept the rest and take no money from the Feds for education or environment...they just take a dollar and send back a quarter..

About all this is, is to notify those in the nor loch that he is exercising his authority.

If he was to announce secession, then I would take a particular notice.

> Ok legal eagles. What is the long and short of it.

The law is what those who can bring the most violence required to force compliance with their interpretation of it is.

This has and always will been the real way laws work, so what remains to be seen is how far the Federal Government is willing to go to undo what Texas is doing, and how Texas will respond in kind.

I have a feeling you’re not just making that up. But where is that power enumerated in the US Constitution? Return fire, sure. But declaring war sounds more like the prerogative of Congress. That itself begs the question whether Congress has the power to declare unconditional surrender. And if there is a state version of that, would Texas be allowed unilaterally to rejoin Mexico?

G7 must be displeased. Let’s make an energy supply deal with Europe bypassing any G7 agreements.
Let’s do it Gov Abbott!! You’re THE Man!

But where is that power enumerated in the US Constitution?

Article I Section 10 Clause 3

No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
If Texas declares that it has been invaded, the Constitution says that the response can be an engagement of War.

However, I think that the Framers expected such an invasion to be in the form of uniformed troops, not migrant civilians. But it is a living document < /s>, and I suppose an argument could be made that they are state-sanctioned invaders from their home countries, given that their home governments enabled their transportation here.

If the shooting starts?!?!! It already is a war. Many Texans have been victimized and countless kids and young girls have suffered, as well. Abbott is doing what needs to be done when the President abdicates his responsibilities.

This, and Texas building its own border wall, is the 21st century Fort Sumter moment.

More than we can know right now BUT this could be a very smart play.

Start building the rest of the wall with a vengeance.

Feds demand the work is to be stopped.

Abbott immediately and very publicly announces he will NOT stop finishing the wall and also announces additional crews are being added to speed up the process.

Have DPS and Texas Rangers ready to move and arrest any Feds showing up at the border in an attempt to stop the work.

Contract with professional private videographers to embed with DPS and Texas Rangers to document the arrests and preserve that documentation. This makes the documentation the property of the State of Texas

Hold the Feds, get them arraigned and set court dates before their release.

Hold the documentation and get the Feds to trial in the summer of 2022.

This statement is for more than what it may seem. Soft secession is underway.

Ignorant comment.

You need to learn your constitution.

It most certainly is defined and very enforceable.

The point is the Supreme court does not have jurisdiction. If more states would just stop letting the black robed tyrants run over them, and actually start nullifying unconstitutional edicts, a good part of their illegal power would be drained away.

Lots of good information here.

There is actually a very serious secession movement progressing in Texas now. I hope we can learn to flex the tenth amendment powers, but if that doesnt work, then secession may be the last resort.

Point me to the part of the Constitution that gives Abbott the power to decide unconstitutional encroachments of power. Texas can’t even keep its people heated in the winter and cooled in the summer. Maybe he should concentrate on that?

Yes. Almost any federal act requires the cooperation of state governments to enforce. All states have to do is just stop cooperating and even arrest any federal workers who violate any 10th amendment boundaries in question. Every state is supposed to be almost an independent country. We were never supposed to be one monolithic mega-nation with 50 subordinate provinces.
