Isn’t the shame of being named a suspect in a crime supposed to be a deterrent? It kind of reminds me of renaming food stamps “SNAP.” People are supposed to feel shame so they won’t commit the crime again. Or in the case of food stamps, they are supposed to feel shame so they won’t get too comfortable with accepting them.

If a certain element of society does not want their name reported in the news for committing a crime, the best way of achieving that is not to commit the crime. Otherwise, it might be nice to publish it on a billboard so we know who to stay away from. A face pic would be helpful too.
