Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) says he will convene a meeting with all 11 Democratic members of the Budget Committee Wednesday to begin the process for passing a budget resolution, paving the way for Democrats to pass a major infrastructure bill on a party-line vote.

Schumer said he hopes to pass the budget resolution for fiscal year 2022 in July.

“Tomorrow I’m convening a meeting with all 11 Democratic members of the Senate Budget Committee regarding a fiscal year ‘22 budget resolution,” Schumer said.

Because McConnell felt it demeaned the sanctity of the Senate or something.

I recall hearing recently, the Senate parliamentarian, had publicly said that there are strict limits on the use of “reconciliation” to be able to bypass the filibuster rules.

Schumer may be a (fill in the blank) but he’s got some level of political skill, and I would imagine he’s cramming all he can into this budget bill, so that it can go through reconcilation.

It makes sense there are limits, otherwise, Schumer would just declare that ALL legislation is going to be passed via reconciliation, and there would be no debate at all about filibuster rules.

If there is any way he can sneak in the voting bill, he’ll do that.

To be honest, I expected him to do this on day 1.

One columist today politically castrated Schumer today. Redstate, iirc, calling him the least power majority leader EVA !

He apparently didn’t appreciate his manhood being challenged. It remains to be seen if Manchin, Sinema, and others will go along with this reconciliation. Suppose they don’t, even though it’s probably much less than the monstrous HR 1 ?

If he can’t pull this off, he might as well resign in disgrace. In fact, I’ll wager this is a seriously stripped piece of legislation which can easily pass with 50 votes, just to prove Schumer is the man ! Chuckie can get it done !

Tell me again when the last time a politician has ever owned up to anything they have done three weeks ago, much less three years. Better still, when was the last time a democratic politician faced a hostile interview or answered a hostile question in the mainstream media? Obama spent most of his reelection campaign trumpeting how he was a deficit hawk and Obamacare was revenue neutral. The media is now eight years more partisan than those halcyon days.

Just like they owned Obamacare. Yet months after it passed I saw someone interviewed saying it was a bipartisan law and was surprised that Republican governors were resisting it. Don’t be surprised to hear that this thing is ‘bipartisan’.

You think inflation is bad now. If they pass a 4 trillion dollar giveaway with 50 votes, hand on to your inflationary hats followed by a stock market implosion.

With fraudulent elections and anyone who points out that the elections are fraudulent being characterized as a “White Supremacist,” what does it matter?

There was no need to use reconciliation when Trump was President. The Senate wasn’t split 50/50 at any point and the GOP lost the House in 2018.

Reconciliation is used to get around the 60 vote filibuster.
