Oh, yeah, you'll win that one.
No, they can’t. And doing so and stating that it is legal will completely undermine the entire banking system. NO one from the least to the most wealthy will feel that it is a safe place to put money. Typically, for funds to be seized there has to be due process- a court has to order it. And typically, the court won’t order such if the account is held by two people since the money in the accounts may be the other person’s. Point is, the banks are very very careful about this because there is much more at stake than the loss of just one person’s funds. A bank run is not something anyone wants.
Waiting for and a-hole to post “start your own bank” and “free enterprise” while ignoring the government imposed roadblocks to doing so.
Wells Fargo is not a trustworthy bank.
Everyone should remove their money from this bank immediately and close their accounts.
Your money is not safe there.
May I suggest that the employee (s) at Wells Fargo who did this, to go and reproduce asexually.

I don’t get it.
When I’m out of state I take a fair amount of cash to get me through and I have credit cards from more than one financial institution. It wouldn’t matter if I couldn’t get to the money in my bank. (Also I have money in more than one bank just in case something goes sour with one.)
On the other hand, maybe she relies on ATM’s that draw from her bank account. I don’t use ATM’s so I don’t know about that. If so, not letting her have access to her money through the ATM isn’t right.
The ‘fraud checks’ have gotten annoying.
I know, they are for a good reason.
To keep all the nefarious thieves from making off with our money (and the banks - the banks being on the hook for a substantial part if not all of the theft under many circumstances.
Just annoying as heck.
If I want to spend my money having a good time with Biden’s stripper... well, the bank should not be playing mom and blocking me!
I’ve dealt personally with Wells Fargo when it gobbled up my account at Wachovia Bank which gobbled up my original account at AG Edwards.
AG Edwards was never a problem to deal with.
Wachovia was ok.
Wells Fargo was a nightmare. Account rep I had to deal with tried to stall closing an account. Eventually had to threaten legal action.
Political affiliation, except membership in recognized terrorist organizations, should be protected.
The same thing happened to me, for the same reason. I was 3000 miles from home, on the opposite coast in other words, with no access to my money. I eventually got it cleared up, but it was a pain.
I asked, how do I avoid you stranding me with no money in future? They said, well, you should call us before you travel so we’ll know. I’ve been traveling all my adult life, including international, and nothing like this has ever happened before. Grrr.
CHOKE POINT!!
.
Just because they can’t doesn’t mean they won’t. People are doing a lot of things these days that are illegal and getting away with it.
I am personally familiar with multiple conservative public figures who have had their bank accounts closed simply because of their political opinions and for no other reason.
If you have never heard of this then all that means is that there are things you've never heard of.
Never had a bank account. Very first account was an S&L, grandpa opened that up for me. My first real account has been at the same credit union for almost 30 years.
If I had to use a bank, it would be a “local” bank, like Frost Bank. I believe that are only in Texas.
Only if you're Republican.
I bet she is like most people that travel extensively, using credit cards for 99.9% of transactions. Something fishy about her stores as she surely has more than a single account at Wells Fargo. What about credit cards?
After the BOA fiasco my wife and I went through, we switched our six figure accounts to a local credit union.
Couldn't be happier. You get way better service from a local bank and they don't care about your politics.
So creditors could just clean out her account?
Wells Fargo was deep into the homosexual agenda at least in 1996. My boss in CA was flaming, and he and his “partner” raved about that fact.
If this is true, it is not good, not good at all!
Wells Fargo has been one of the few banks I’ve continued business with, as others (CitiCorp, Bank of America) have given in to wokeness and, particularly, anti-second Amendment sentiments. If they’re now going this route, attacking conservative issues and pushing wokeness, I’ll have to end my 40+ year relationship with them, and recommend everyone else do the same.
