BROOKHAVEN, Ga. (WKRC/WXIA/CNN Newsource) - A mother and her newborn baby are receiving a wealth of support from her community after she was the victim of a shocking attack.
The mom, who was five months pregnant at the time, was with her three-year-old son, Benjamin, when she was assaulted.
While in the hospital, Valerie Kasper says she keeps reliving the moment on the Greenway a week before.
"It's in my head, and I'm constantly seeing it," she said.
A man, who the police now say was Christopher Jones, targeted Kasper.
The suspect stabbed her four times in the back and stomach. Benjamin was fortunately not hurt.
Kasper's wounds were so severe, doctors had to perform an emergency C-section to deliver Benjamin's brother, Theodore, four months premature.
"It's amazing to me that I got stabbed four times and nothing was destroyed," said Kasper. "He didn't hit the baby. He didn't hit the womb at all. It's just a miracle."
Jones has since been arrested. Kasper praises the police.
"It's a huge relief that that monster is not on the street doing this to other pregnant women walking with their three-year-olds," she said.
Kasper and Steve Barkdoll, Benjamin and Theodore's father, are both teachers. Their community has rallied around the family, supporting them with online fundraisers.

The assistant district attorney said Jones had been arrested in Georgia 12 times for crimes including simple assault, battery, theft and robbery. Prosecutors said he had also been arrested in Alabama and as a juvenile in Tennessee.

Who does that? Isn't it obvious? Cowardly black men who hate whites but don't have the balls to take on another man face-to-face in an even fight. So they assault only women, usually older women, but in this instance a pregnant woman walking with her 3-year-old son.
Their assaults almost always blind-side the victim from the back or side. They are savages and cowards. They are creating hate where perhaps none existed before. This latest victim and her husband are both teachers, so odds are they're both Democrats. If they are, I wonder if they will remain so.
