She didn’t do something dumb. Nothing personal, but that is asinine. Nothing personal here, but do you understand what she did?
A good example of “Something dumb” was a US Navy sailor named Kristan Saucier who took pictures of classified areas inside a nuclear submarine because he wanted to show his buddies at home what he did for work and was proud of it, and got sentenced to a year in the brig.
What this POS Reality Winner (and she was someone who worked in Intelligence and KNEW exactly what she did, KNEW it was wrong, and DID IT WITH MALICIOUS INTENT) was while employed by a military contractor (and in all likelihood with the privileges that come post-service with someone who has a top secret security clearance) she, in her trusted position as an “Intelligence Specialist” with her top secrect clearance she was allowed to keep as a civilian and which she banked on, she obtained and released classified documents in an attempt to damage someone because she disagreed with them politically.
And, she expressed open support for Osama Bin Laden and the Taliban, and wanted to “Burn down the White House” because Trump was President, indicating clearly she is an anti-American Leftist POS worthy of a firing squad.
Trump pardoned Kristan Saucier, as he SHOULD have, because Saucier should have NEVER been sent to jail because what he did was STUPID.
What this piece of human excrement Reality Winner did was intentional, malicious, and a betrayal of the privileges she obtained (with her top secret security clearance obtained while serving on active duty) should have resulted in a minimum 10-20 year sentence without parole.
The prosecutors in her case went for pretty much the maximum penalty, far beyond what anyone expected, and she accepted it. She accepted responsibility for her actions and she served her time.
I’m not saying the girl deserves a monument. I’m saying she at least accepted responsibility for her actions, and took the consequences even when they were far worse than most expected. She was young and did something stupid. Before she did that, she was in the US Air Force for 6 years and received a commendation for over 100 battlefield kills. She was 25 when she did what she did. How many people AREN’T liberals at 25? Yes what she did was stupid and illegal. Yes she had some messed up ideas. But she served her country well before then and after that she owned up to what she did and did her time.
That’s better than most who mess up.
If nothing else, a 10-20 year sentence would have a deterrent effect on other politically motivated people with security clearance who might be contemplating doing what she did.
