The prosecutors in her case went for pretty much the maximum penalty, far beyond what anyone expected, and she accepted it. She accepted responsibility for her actions and she served her time.
I’m not saying the girl deserves a monument. I’m saying she at least accepted responsibility for her actions, and took the consequences even when they were far worse than most expected. She was young and did something stupid. Before she did that, she was in the US Air Force for 6 years and received a commendation for over 100 battlefield kills. She was 25 when she did what she did. How many people AREN’T liberals at 25? Yes what she did was stupid and illegal. Yes she had some messed up ideas. But she served her country well before then and after that she owned up to what she did and did her time.
That’s better than most who mess up.
This is nothing personal against you. We will not agree on this.
I feel the way I do for two reasons: She betrayed the trust of a privilege that she benefited monetarily from, and secondly, it wasn’t an oops, she did it with malicious intent to interfere with a political process.
I disagree with the desire for leniency because she was young. She was 25 years old and knew damn well what she was doing. I might have more sympathy if she had been 17 or even 18, but she was 25. Not a teenager. Not a child. She was old enough to know right from wrong.
I am not an advocate of past service excusing later actions, if I were, I would be more sympathetic to Benedict Arnold simply because his gripes may or may not have had legitimacy. But I am not.
And one more thing-I don’t care what she has said since then-she only regrets her actions because she got caught, and mouthed all the things she had to say like the commonest criminal would do in order to obtain an early release. And this is just one document. How many other things did she give to other people, and what ramifications would those have?
One of two things is going to happen going forward: She is going to shut her mouth and melt into the background so there are no more interactions with any investigations, or she is going to become a Leftist cause celbre and capitalize on her pathetic fame. Given her mother is a main player with the Kremlin Annex organization, a rabidly Leftist douchebag organization, one might think she didn’t have a chance. Her moonbat mother was audacious enough to petition Trump for a pardon all while unfairly accusing him of being in bed with the Russians.
You and I disagree on this, and I accept that. It is clear we will not see eye to eye on it.
