Peter Foster: Mark Carney, man of destiny, arises to revolutionize society. It won't be pleasant

What Carney ultimately wants is a technocratic dictatorship justified by climate alarmism

In his book Value(s): Building a Better World for All, Mark Carney, former governor both of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England, claims that western society is morally rotten, and that it has been corrupted by capitalism, which has brought about a “climate emergency” that threatens life on earth. This, he claims, requires rigid controls on personal freedom, industry and corporate funding.

Carney’s views are important because he is UN Special Envoy on Climate Action and Finance. He is also an adviser both to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on the next big climate conference in Glasgow, and to Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Since the advent of the COVID pandemic, Carney has been front and centre in the promotion of a political agenda known as the “Great Reset,” or the “Green New Deal,” or “Building Back Better.” All are predicated on the claim that COVID, and its disruption of the global economy, provides a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity not just to regulate climate, but to frame a more fair, more diverse, more inclusive, more safe and more woke world.

“a technocratic dictatorship justified by climate alarmism”

That is “Democracy” as the globalists like to refer to it.

It is beyond dispute that we are going to have a dictatorship.

By who, and in whose interest - TBD.

This Green New Deal stuff is perhaps the main reason I feared a Biden administration. Claiming that the world will end if we don't do x, y, and z is a prescription for totalitarianism of the worst type. Nothing will be declared off-limits, and if it isn't stopped we will see previously unthinkable restrictions of our lifestyles and freedoms.

It is likely to plunge millions into huge personal debt to meet the refitting requirements imposed on single-family homes, and they may entirely ban construction of new single-family homes in the future, leading to a dwindling supply and massive increases in home prices, leaving them only for the elites.

Aging lower-end and mid-range homes will be torn down and replaced by high-density apartments. We will be told that this makes us happier, more diverse, and freer, and many will believe it.

Are you still living in the Seattle area? If you have the means get the ___ out while you can. This entire State is going down. The government is vested in killing as many as they can and packing the rest into sardine cans. The State OWNS the water in the ground, the air, and your home FOREVER. Other places have property tax, but they at least allow you to have a well, and a garden bigger than 1/2 acre. Oh, you can own the land, but you are not allowed the water unless you qualify as a farm or a ranch, in which case file an Environmental Impact statement for the aquifer the state owns. I wonder how long that takes, and how much it costs?

His mother shouldn’t have plowed through all that gin while she was pregnant for him.

we can certainly change the climate, I can think of more than a few ways.

Before we start thinking about that, we need to decide if climate change trend is warming, or cooling.

Unfortunately it has been discovered that there is a big unpredictable thing called the sun that can cause large changes more easily than we can.

Mark Carney, former governor both of the Bank of Canada and the Bank of England

Canada would become prime real estate if air conditioning costs at the equator get too much. The smart Canadians would be buying square miles of frozen tundra and welcoming climate change, except the smart Canadians know it is all just a politicized big lie intended to handicap the world's largest economy.

If Mark Carney were as smart and beneficial to mankind as he thinks he is, he probably would have been a billionaire by age 30. As far as Harvard graduates go, though, he's bottom of the barrel in accomplishments, which is reflected in his middling wealth. In his mind, this *must* be because the free market is irredeemably corrupt and must be remade with brilliant technocrats like him in charge.

It's always surprising how economists struggle with the reason valuable water is cheap, but useless diamonds are expensive. All economic activity requires energy consumption. The sustainable price of products is directly proportional to the cost of energy needed to acquire them. If you make energy more expensive, through taxes, regulation, socialism, the result is a lower quality of life for all.

The USA has one of the lowest wealth gaps in the world, significantly below the world average.
