A company representative said about 98.5% of the millions of rounds of ammo stolen earlier this week were .22 caliber, which is seldom used by Mexican drug cartels.

The .22 rounds are used mainly in rifles for target practice or extremely small game. Mexican cartels prefer larger, high-velocity ammunition for AK-47 and AR-15 rifles or 9 mm weapons.

Aquila. 22 is one of the most dependable brands for small semi-auto .22 pocket piece pistols.

Big deal. Making 22 ammunition is not rocket science. The only reason it's made in Mehico is so the company owners can pocket more cash. Profits regardless of consequences. Eff them.

I think it’s funny they call AK ammo (7.62 x 39) a high velocity round heh.

Aquila. 22 is one of the most dependable brands for small semi-auto .22 pocket piece pistols. It cycles well without jamming . It works way better in small pistols that the .22 hot rounds that .22 rifles take. So, if it starts turning up , stock up .

A few years back, I bought some brand new Aguila .22 LR at a gun store. When I was inspecting the rounds before use (something that's always a good idea), I found one .22 round that looked like someone had used a couple pair of vice grips to 'twist' the case. I've seen some weird rounds before (including a Russian steel-case 5.56 round with the primer seated sideways ;^), but I've never seen a 'twisted' cartridge case like that, before or since. The QC guys at the ammo plant must've been asleep that day...

That's in comparison to what they think you should be allowed to own (a sling shot & a pocket full of dog kibble)...

Any .30 caliber rifle firing a bullet at around 2000 fps is definitely high velocity and is very decisive.

My point is the powder load in the regular Aquilla .22 is right for small semis ,which can tend to jam on the hot loads

I recall reading that Aguila had licensed its priming formula/process from Eley, a company highly regarded for match-grade ammo.

300 Norma I would classify there. Russian 7.62 is more like a carbine to me. I was never impressed with their power.

They used to shoot at me quite a bit with those things, whole different ballgame when a 7.62x51 is used.

"btw where can one easily get .380? for use as barter. asking for a friend who prefers to stay off the grid."

Go to ammoseek.com. It is a browser for ammo. Prices are still high, but are coming down.
