Sinema faces Arizona blowback over becoming the Senate's new unmovable roadblock
CNN ^ | Thu June 10, 2021 | Dan Merica, Kyung Lah and Anna-Maja Rappard

Alejandra Gomez worked tirelessly to get Democrats, including Sen. Kyrsten Sinema, elected in 2018. But now she feels betrayed.

The 39-year-old co-executive director of the community organizing group LUCHA went door to door in the sweltering Arizona heat in 2018, turning out the Democratic voters that helped get Sinema elected to the Senate. The work was arduous and the hours long, but Gomez and others believed deeply in the need to defeat Republican Martha McSally, who had aligned herself with then-President Donald Trump.

Her work paid off -- Sinema won by nearly 3 percentage points. But it is what happened next -- the Arizona Democrat has become one of the most unmovable roadblocks on Democratic priorities in Washington -- that has shocked people who considered themselves ardent Sinema supporters a few short years ago. Gomez now has another label for the woman she helped elect: A wolf in sheep's clothing.

Now they know how Republican voters felt about Jeff Flake once he got elected

"XiNN"

Notice that XiNN performs footnote 209 on "brave" senators like McCain, Dumbney and Murkowski - but pillories Democrat senators who fall out of the solid DNC phalanx like Sinema...

She’s not the equivalent of Flake and others from the anti-Trump wing of the GOP. She’s not bad mouthing Biden and won’t be campaigning for the Republican presidential candidate in 2024.I

Sinema is still to the left of McCain, Romney, Collins and Murkowski. She’s left-center, and despite her quirky style, she never really presented herself as far-left. That is what Republicans did, as is standard for both parties. You always want to define your opponent as extreme.

The “wolf in sheep’s clothing” is Mark Kelly. He was only elected because he was an astronaut and fighter pilot, and uninformed voters assumed he was a patriot and hero. And of course McSally belonged in the kitchen making them a sandwich.

Sinema and Joe Manchin are actually representing the typical Democratic voter. They're not that radical unless they live in places like Portland, OR or Berkeley, CA.

Mark Kelly is the husband of Gabrielle Giffords, former representative from the Tucson area. She was shot and almost killed by a leftist nut job. He received a lot of sympathy votes.

His Senate seat may be no more legitimately won than Thievin’ Joe’s “presidency”.

I live in Arizona and if a Bushbot RINO wins the 2022 Republican primary to run against Sinema I will vote for Sinema.

Yes, he is a Brady Campaign favorite, and is highly dedicated to eliminating our 2nd Amendment rights. The far left is quite happy with him, and ignorant Arizonans still voted for him.

This is about as anti as the Dems get so I take it with a grain of salt they don’t have the backbenchers the GOP has but this is still kinda funny

Kelly is what happens when you nominate a loser who was previously rejected. Personally I liked McSally but you rarely get a second bite at the apple.

We should just dub her “Maverick”. Seriously, if the GOP can talk Manchin or Sinema to switch parties, the “reset” is dead until 2023.

A decade ago, Sinema was a member of Code Pink and would happily tell you she was a Communist. She ‘won’ her House seat through gerrymandering. It was a springboard for the Senate. She ‘won’ on 2018 due to ballot harvesting in AZ, which was illegal. Kelly ‘won’ in 2020 through voter fraud.

Can anyone tell me how the Maricopa County Recorder, Adrian Fontes (put forward for office by OurRevolution), lost his seat to a Republican in 2020, but Kelly and Biden ‘won’ Maricopa County by wide margins? No, I don’t believe it either.
